3 Of The Best Bath Oils To Aid Sleep & Relaxation

Having a bath is one of life’s most simple and indulgent pleasures right now, allowing body and mind to de-stress and calm down amidst the chaos of the wider world. Slipping into a steaming hot tub, especially during a chilly winter’s evening, is one of my favourite ways to pass the time – and over the last year I’ve spent even more time in my bathroom than usual. Lighting a candle, sprinkling in some bath salts and adding a capful of my current favourite bath oil brings about much needed relaxation and an opportunity to switch off from the never ending noise. My bathroom cabinet may be filled with all manner of potions, concoctions and treatments to help get me in the mood, but there are three bath oils in particular that I’ve been relying on more and more to help support me both emotionally and physically. This trio help to relax my mind, soothe my senses and aid preparation for slumber when I need it most. And boy do we need it right now… Here are three of the best, tried and thoroughly tested, bath oils to aid sleep and relaxation.

bath oils to aid sleep and relaxation

Olverum Bath Oil* (£65.00)
With a combination of Pine, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Lemon, Rosemary, Lime, Juniper and Geranium oils, this is a truly invigorating experience for all the senses. Not only does this vegan oil help to soothe aching muscles and relieve symptoms of stress, but it helps to calm the breath and leave your body feeling supported thanks to the lightly stimulating qualities is offers; I’m immediately left feeling refreshed, but also ready for bed thanks to the sleep enhancing qualities of the ingredients. This is a pricey addition to your bathroom, but one cap is all you need. For a more affordable option, MOA’s Fortifying Green Potion (£25.00) is just as invigorating and great when you’re feeling a little bunged up too.

CBD Leafline CBD Skincare Oil* (£24.99)
Although this is technically a body oil, I have no issue with throwing in a little oil of any kind into my bath. (In fact, I’m not a huge fan of skincare oils so inevitably end up chucking them in the tub to make the most of them!) Organic, vegan friendly and 100% natural, this contains whole plant CBD oil alongside a combination of Coconut Oil, Vitamin E, Lavender, Patchouli and Geranium for a naturally soothing and relaxing experience. When I really need to sleep well or de-stress my mind after a long day, this is my absolute go-to – and it works every time. CBD is now widely recognised to provide benefits for those suffering with anxiety, insomnia, pain, inflammation and general wellbeing issues, so it’s a great addition to a long soak and an easy way to get your body ready for bed. Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Bath & Shower Oil* (£49.00)
There’s a reason this iconic bath oil has won numerous accolades and continues to be both a consumer and industry favourite; the combination of grounding Vetivert, soothing Camomile and comforting Sandalwood allow the slowing of a racing mind and the ability to prepare for deep sleep. Developed as a solution to the founder’s own insomnia, it really does work a treat – especially in combination with the CBD oil above. Pretty much anything from Aromatherapy Associates is guaranteed to benefit both body and mind, but this is powerful without being overbearing on the senses. If you want to try before you invest in the full size bottle, right now you can nab a ‘mini moment’ (with three bath’s worth of oil) for only £6.00 here.

We all need a little ‘me time’ and a way to escape from the world, albeit temporarily, and for me a long soak and a good book is the way to do it. Investing in your wellbeing is just as important as investing in every area of your life, so if you’re looking for the best bath oils to aid sleep and relaxation then these three have got you covered.

I should really get into shower oils. I can be quite lazy when it comes to body moisturizers as the skin in my body is quite normal and not overly dry but it does seem like 2 birds with 1 stone to hydrate the body in the shower.
