Wrapping up against the cold mornings brings with it a comforting feeling that compares to no other. Saying goodbye to the warm days and late sunsets can be painful, but once settled into the season the candlelit evenings are undoubtedly some of my favourite. Although I fully embrace a cosy knit, I hate to hang up my more floaty and feminine wardrobe additions indefinitely – but there are three simple ways you can toughen them up so keep them seasonally appropriate all the way until Spring. If you want to make the most of your wardrobe this Autumn-Winter, then investing in three simple accessories will make all the difference…
1. Chunky Books.
Don’t be afraid to take those super on-trend, chunky and very 90’s boots and pair them with an otherwise floaty and elegant dress. Not only are they way more comfy and practical than a heel or knee-high, but they instantly transform any look into one that feels more fun and youthful.
2. Leather Belt.
Never to be underestimated is the power of a chunky black belt. There’s a reason it’s become a must-have luxe accessory, but if your budget doesn’t stretch to designer there are plenty of affordable alternatives out there. A big overstated buckle makes a statement while pulling you in where it matters, creating a subtle silhouette that’s incredibly flattering.
3. Biker Jacket.
My absolute go-to no matter the season, for an instant wardrobe update one of my fave ways to style a biker jacket is with a floaty dress. The structural contrast of the tough leather and angular edges against the more delicate material is just so effortlessly chic, keeping even the most seasonal of dresses wearable in the depth of Autumn.
