My obsession with jewellery undeniably began when my mum became the manager of an H Samuel shop. With her staff discount she started to become adorned with all manner of sparkly, golden and blingtastic accessories – and that certainly rubbed off on me. I vividly remember frequently standing outside the shop window and making lists of the things I liked, passing them on around the time of my birthday so I could be surprised with something new to treasure; my tastes may have changed hugely since then, but my love for accessorising truly remains.
Over the years I’ve started to invest in pieces that will stand the test of time and provide memories of moments passed, rather than cheaper jewellery that becomes quickly tarnished or no longer in favour after a passing trend. Some of my favourite brands include Pandora (I have so many bracelets, charms, rings, earrings and necklaces – and I even wore Pandora jewellery on my wedding day,) Monica Vinader, Z by Accessorize and Lisa Angel, all of which offer beautifully delicate and elegant pieces that are a true investment.
In order to look after that investment, jewellery storage and cleaning has become really important to me. I want to be able to see what I have, look after it the best I can and ensure there are pieces I can pass on to future generations.
I first bought my Stackers jewellery box a couple of years ago while Christmas shopping in John Lewis. I bought Josh a few basics in black to keep his cuff links, watches and knick knacks safe – but quickly decided a few Stackers of my own was exactly what I needed. These super sturdy, luxe and elegant boxes come in many different styles, with the idea being you can build and design the storage unit that’s perfect for your needs; there are layers to store your watches, necklaces, trinkets, charm bracelets and even sunglasses – and everything is available to buy individually from only £15.00. They also come in three different sizes, so you can mix and match to suit the space you have available.
I love the fact that I can keep adding to my Stackers jewellery box, and I have been over the last year – most recently with a couple of lids for rings and things, while helping to protect everything inside from getting too dusty. This is such an affordable jewellery box solution, but it still looks super luxe and premium; it provides the best of both worlds and I absolutely adore it.
When it comes to cleaning my jewellery, I’ve found a super effective way to look after my treasured pieces and restore them to their former sparkling glory: a sonic jewellery cleaner*.
Josh actually bought this for me last year after a friend cleaned my wedding and engagement ring in hers, and it’s brilliant. You just pop your pieces into the compartment with water and a small amount of sonic cleaning solution* (which you do need to buy separately and does make all the difference,) press the button and let it get to work; most of the time I let it run twice to get my pieces sparkling clean, but if you do it regularly once is enough. It’s so good at removing daily dirt and grime (especially a build up of hand cream,) but also just restoring the reflective silver surface of my favourite pieces.
My cleaner is surprisingly affordable (£27.99 and £7.99 for the cleaning solution) and saves me having to take pieces back to the shops for a free spruce up. (FYI Pandora offers a free cleaning service, as do most high street jewellers – as long as the jewellery was bought from them.) It’s something I use every month or two to deep clean my entire collection, but it’s also something I use more frequently to keep my wedding and engagement ring looking as good as new.
Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference!
What do you think of my Stackers jewellery box? How do you store and clean your jewellery? Are you as excited about a sonic jewellery cleaner as much as me?!
