My bedside table is a sacred place, reserved only for the best of the best and those little gems that I can rely rely on. Unlike my dressing table, which is often overflowing with things to try, this little area of my bedroom is only big enough to hold a handful of overnight treats; I’m ruthless when it comes to selecting those which make the cut, and those which are swiftly swapped out for another pot of moisturising goodness. If a product gets a place on the bedside table for longer than a week, I know I’m on to a winner.
So what am I reaching for right now, and what products are part of my daily nighttime regime?
Let me introduce you…
ARK Skincare Age Defend Regenerating Night Treatment* (£42.00)
If you follow me across my channels you’ll already know how much of a huge fan I am of this brand (check out my other reviews here,) but when they told me they were launching a night treatment I was almost giddy with excitement. The newest addition to their super effective and affordable range, this night treatment is rich enough to inject skin with all kinds of goodness as you sleep, but lightweight enough to take it all the way up to the under-eye area to target those dark circles too.
The result of extensive research and developed with the latest understanding of how skin cells rejuvenate at night, the treatment is 97% natural, vegan, made in Britain and free from known irritants. It’s also packed with powerful ingredients (including Rovisome Q10, Kiwi Seed Oil, Passion Seed Oil, Cordarom Blue Lotus, Vitamin E, Vitamin A Palmitate and Shea Butter) to increase hydration, boost collagen and elasticity, detoxify, soothe and reduce inflammation.
The result is a complexion that looks and feels glowing. I’ve been using this for a couple of months now and it’s honestly become my go-to night cream; just one pump and I know I’m sorted.
Embryolisse Doux Peeling Nuit* (£18.00)
Our skin ‘regenerates’ as we sleep, so it’s the perfect time to boost that process with a little exfoliating action. Embryolisse is a French pharmacy brand that really delivers great products without costing a small fortune, mostly suitable for those with more sensitive skin; this is a new overnight treatment that features exfoliating fruit acid extracted from Caviar Lemon, balanced by nourishing Macadamia and Argan oils, Shea Butter and Beeswax.
The result is a super gentle and hydrating overnight ‘peel’ that helps to reveal a smoother, brighter and more refined complexion over time. Although it takes a couple of weeks of use to start seeing any real difference, this is a lovely overnight product and one I tend to use when I need a little extra boost. I’ve taken to layering it over serums and oils too, as the hydrating benefits ensure it plays well with others!
Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Cell Renewal Night Oil* (£62.00)
Definitely up their with my favourite ‘suitable for everyone’ skincare brands, Aurelia focuses on ‘feeding’ the skin with beneficial ingredients to ensure it’s performing at its most optimum. This beautifully lightweight and non-greasy night oil not only smells great (thanks to a relaxing blend of Neroli, Lavender, Rose and Mandarin oils,) but it helps to hydrate, regenerate, firm, tone and fight free radicals too. Ingredients include Kalahari oil (essential fatty acids,) Mongongo oil (restructures the epidermis,) Baobab (rich in Omega fatty acids,) Hibiscus and Pomegranate, which in high quantities definitely justifies the price point.
I’m not a huge fan of oils as they tend to leave my skin feeling greasy and my pillow sticky, but this absorbs so quickly and layers beautifully with other moisturisers, making it a definite winner when it comes to nighttime gems. I definitely feel it helps to give my skin what it’s craving, so right now it’s something I’m applying daily.
O’Keefee’s Overnight Lip Repair* (£5.25)
A little gem of a find, this is always on my night stand and is something I apply to my lips every single night without fail. I’ve been applying lip balm before bed for so long that I feel naked without it, but in this I’ve found a lightweight but comfortable hydrating and soothing balm that really helps to keep my lips looking and feeling fab. Since I’ve been using this (probably going on six months now and I’m only half way through) I haven’t suffered with cracked or sore lips at all, which is usually something that rears its head come the winter. I’ve no idea what’s in it because I threw away the packaging and there’s no information online, but I like it and that’s what matters!
No7 HydraLuminious Overnight Recovery Gel Cream* (£14.00)
You really can’t go wrong with No7 skincare; it offers really great value alongside decent product efficacy, backed by a lot of science. Although this isn’t one of their super dooper science-led products, it’s a decent hydrating cream packaged in a lightweight formula that’s perfect for layering. The focus is very much on hydrating the skin and helping to protect from environmental aggressors, meaning you’ll definitely want to use a more targeted serum or oil underneath this if you’re in the thirty plus category, but as a moisturiser I really do quite like it.
Sometimes I don’t want a super rich, expensive or complex cream when I’m using products like the others I’m reaching for right now, and this is the perfect accompaniment. Refreshing, hydrating and fast absorbing, every bedside table could benefit from having one of these.
Jurlique Lavender Hydrating Mist* (£23.00)
We all know lavender can help relax the mind and aid sleep, but it doesn’t just have to be part of a candle or pillow spray. Jurlique’s Lavender Oil enriched lightweight mist helps to hydrate the skin, soothe the senses and calm the skin; Marshmallow Root Extract and Glycerin act as natural humectants to draw moisture deep into the skin and provide long-lasting hydration, while Grapefruit Seed extract provides antioxidant benefits to help reinforce the skin’s natural protective barrier.
Skin is not only left looking radiant and feeling soft, but the scent instantly calms and soothes the mind – perfect for using as a last step before before bed. I’ve become a little obsessed with this, taking time to spritz on and breathe in the scent after I’ve applied my usual night time skincare regime.
