Totally Nude: 7 Super Comfortable Hydrating Lipsticks & Glosses You Can Wear All Day

PLUS THE SECRET INGREDIENT TO HELP KEEP LIPS COMFORTABLE & LIPSTICK IN PLACE

I do like it nude. Enhancing your natural lip colour, and letting the rest of your look do the talking, can be so effortlessly chic. Finding a shade that helps my lips to look fuller, smooth and generally more youthful is always top of my list, and I always have at least three lingering in the bottom of my bag to help me achieve the look I want. Bold colours may help to brighten your face and bring an otherwise relaxed style completely together, but the understated power of a nude lip is one I’ve been falling back on for years.

As for the criteria that’s top of my list? The perfect nude has got to be comfortable enough to last through multiple applications, without the need to add lashings of balm to soothe my lips from the drying ingredients. Sounds simple enough, but it can actually be tricky to get right. These seven nude lipsticks and glosses have nailed it though, offering a hydrating and comforting formula that’s become a staple in my makeup routine and a firm favourite to pop in my bag. It Cosmetics Pillow Lips Cream* in ‘Humble’ (£20.00)
I’m such a huge fan of the IT Cosmetics CC Cream, but the majority of their other cosmetics have passed me by; until this fabulous collagen and hyaluronic acid enriched lipstick landed on my desk. Designed to help smooth fine lines, plump lips with conditioning ingredients and provide a colour-rich finish, this is a truly beautiful lipstick that feels incredibly comfortable on the lips. It doesn’t feel like you’d anticipate at all, instead depositing a balm-like rich colour that leaves lips feeling comforted; although it does transfer, I have no issue applying and re-applying all day.

Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss* in ‘New Romantic’ (£19.00)
This quickly became a go-to fave of mine, as it’s just such an effortless formula to wear. Available in fifteen shades that range from the most nude to the most impactful, the formula is enriched with Olive, Apricot, Avocado, Castor, Coffee, Jojoba and Fukui seed oil to hydrate and protect lips. Featuring a non-sticky but super reflective and glossy finish, these feel balm-like on the lips and deposit a perfect amount of pigment to be noticeable without overpowering – perfect if you’re slightly nervous of colour or would rather create an understated look. I would recommend these to everyone, they’re that good.

Vaseline Prime & Shine* in ‘Warm Nude’ (£5.49)
A much more purse-friendly alternative to the Bobbi Brown glosses, this features a dual-end with a little stick of Vaseline-enriched balm to prime lips and a pot of glossy colour to deposit over the top. Scented with an unexpectedly rich fruity fragrance, this is surprisingly good considering the price point and makes a great handbag essential; the gloss is richly pigmented and super comfortable to wear, albeit stickier than the others, and leaves a great finish on the lips.

Clarins Lip Comfort Oil Intense* in ‘Intense Nude’ (£19.00)
If you’ve not tried the original Clarins Lip Oils then where have you been? They’re undoubtedly one of my all-time fave lip products, thanks to their non-sticky hydrating gloss formula that provides just a hint of a tint to your pout. Updated just in time for the spring season, this is a hybrid of that iconic formula and a more traditional liquid lipstick – providing comfort and colour in one. Incredibly lightweight in texture, this is richly pigmented and provides a strong result on the lips that lasts; the applicator aids a smooth and precise result too, even if it’s not as big or chunky as the original I love so much. If you’re after a balm or oil texture then this isn’t for you, but it is a great mid-way product that marries the best of both worlds.

Ciate Pump Plump* in ‘Honey Dew’ (£20.00)
Enriched with a non-irritating cooling agent to gently swell and amplify the lips without causing discomfort, this is about more than just colour. Within a few seconds you experience a very comfortable mild tingling sensation that leaves behind an enhanced pout and a glossy-look finish, without the uncomfortable tight or sticky sensation you might expect. Hyaluronic filling spheres also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and dryness to create a flawless and smooth finish that looks and feels fab. I’m a big fan of the push-top crayon-like applicator, which minimises mess and excess, too.

Spectrum Collections Matte Lipstick* in ‘Element’ (£12.99)
Unrivalled queens of the beauty accessory, Spectrum Collections launched their first forray into cosmetics just before Christmas – and they’ve created some really amazing pieces that not only look beautiful, but really perform. This matte effect lipstick is suprisingly lightweight and non-drying on the lips, leaving behind a delicate film of pigment that doesn’t feel heavy or like it’s going to cling to every single patch of dehydration. The bullet allows for super precise application too, ensuring a perfect look every single time with minimal effort.

Lipstick Queen ‘Nothing But The Nudes’* in ‘Blooming Blush’ (£22.00)
A real stand-out lipstick that’s undoubtedly worth the price point if you’re a nude lipstick lover, this is infused with natural oils and waxes to deliver a creamy formula that glides onto lips with ease. Antioxidant Vitamin E and nourishing Pomegranate Extract help to leave lips soft and conditioned, while a beautifully rich colour is deposited to enhance your pout in the best way. I really love the semi-sheer and slightly glossy finish that looks and feels like a balm-hybrid, making this a go-to for when I want to keep my lipstick in place all day long; it’s a great on-the-go alternative to a gloss, and one I’ve been reaching for a lot.

AND THE SECRET INGREDIENT?

ARK Skincare’s Advanced Action Plumping Lip Cream* (£32.00). An unexpected saviour for lipstick lovers, thanks to its lightweight texture and super hydrating formula, it offers a subtle plumping effect and works incredibly well as a primer – helping to prevent bleeding, transfer and product sitting in fine lines. It’s also known to help prevent cold sores, is a great overnight treatment, restores definition to the outer rim of lips and works to reduce the appearance of fine lines around the mouth, all while beautifully hydrating the delicate skin.

I’m such a lip balm addict, but this has become an on-desk essential as it stops that tight feeling you often get from over applying products (especially lipstick,) while leaving my lips comfortable enough for hours. I never thought a lip cream would be for me, but this proved me wrong! If you want to make your lipstick last and feel more comfortable, this could definitely be for you too.

Do you love nude lips as much as me? Which of my top picks most floats your boat?

These are really non-sticky – for that reason! But also the lipsticks are so comfortable too.

These all look lovely. I love the Nyx Lingerie range personally but this can be quite drying. Colour lasts all day though and if you like a matte lippy, I’d definitely recommend! Danielle || https://www.missdanielle.com

The Clarins Lip Comfort Oil sounds amazing, I definitely need to try them. I like the idea of a compromise between a balm and an oil!

That Bobbi Brown gloss looks so beautiful and I’d love to try it out. I’ve been enjoying glosses and creamier lipsticks recently and think they can look more flattering on the lips than matte lipsticks. Your posts are always written so well and I love your images. I’ll definitely be trying some of these products out!
