Falling Back In Love With Jeans: Five Styles To Try & Three Ways To Wear Jeans

AD: Sponsored Feature In Partnership With Very

Midi skirts and dresses may be my one true love (and my wardrobe is testament to that fact,) but over the last couple of years I’ve been re-kindling a romance with a closet staple that never goes out of style: the jean. As a curvy woman with more booty than a pirate with extra hand luggage, finding jeans to fit can be a struggle; if they fasten around the hips then often there’s an excessive amount of space around the waist, while my short frame but long legs mean most styles linger somewhere unintentional around the ankle. After a long time swatting up on the best ways to wear jeans, I’ve finally found a style that works for me and I’m definitely falling in love with them all over again – pairing them with everything from chunky knits and plain white tees, to fancy tops and leather jackets.

Shopping for jeans can be an absolute nightmare, but Very has a huge selection of women’s jeans in every style, colour and fit you could ever need. So if you’re in the market for a new pair or three but don’t know where to start, or have a closet full of unloved denim pieces you don’t know how to style, here are five styles of jeans to try and three effortless ways to wear them…

FIVE STYLES TO TRY

1. SKINNY JEANS
You may be forgiven for thinking these were only ever intended for slight young things, but I actually find them incredibly flattering on curves and super easy to wear. Skinny jeans hug your curves in the best way, while the silouette means it’s far easier to pair with chunky knits or oversized tees without feeling like you have no shape. My style of choice!

2. MOM JEANS
Yes, the look fashioned by soccer moms in the late 90’s; mom jeans have had quite the makeover and comeback since then, working as an effortless on-trend update to your wardrobe. The key is to wear them with high fashion accessories so you don’t end up looking frumpy, and tucking up the bottom of the legs for a modern twist. They look just as great with trainers as they do with heels, and the lighter the better in my opinion.

3. RIPPED JEANS
Go for a super easy ‘I just threw this on but I know I look awesome’ look with ripped jeans  – the style your parents love to hate. The intentional rips give the denim an even more relaxed look that’s incredible paired with a biker jacket or a simple white tee; sometimes it’s the most effortless looks that are the best.

4. HIGH WAISTED JEANS
For grown-up elegance and a sexy silhouette, high waisted jeans are a great option. They lengthen the appearance of legs so are great if you’re not blessed with the statuette of a super model, plus they’re fab for creating a nipped in waist.

5. CROPPED JEANS
One of my recent favourite looks is cropped jeans paired with ankle boots, flashing just the smallest amount of flesh between the two. It’s so easy to wear and feels incredibly fresh, taking you all the way to spring with ease; just swap those boots for sandals and you’re good for summer too!

THREE WAYS TO STYLE THEM

A Simple Tee & White Kicks
Classic, chic and super comfortable, you can’t go wrong with jeans and a tee. I like my tees to cover my tummy and be slightly oversized, like the polka dot one in the pics, but if you’re confident enough to tuck them in that looks super chic too. A great pair of white trainers keeps it clean – just don’t forget those trainer liners instead of socks!

Chunky Boots & A Leather Jacket
Literally what I seem to wear with my jeans on an almost daily basis, because it keeps me warm but looks a little edgy too. The dark leather texture of each ties the look together too, so you can pretty much wear anything between.

Heels & A Nice Top
Don’t be afraid to dress up any style of jean, as a pair of sleek and simple heels looks fab with denim; whether you pick a silk slip of a top, a strapless number, a sassy shirt or a glittery piece, jeans are all you need to keep it looking current but comfortable.
