With only another week left until the big JC’s birthday (and mine!) many of us are still trying to panic buy gifts, without giving away the fact we’ve panic bought gifts… If you’re still waiting for the ‘perfect’ treat to come along, or for inspiration to suddenly hit you in the face, then you’re definitely in the right place. With so many incredible festive collections and limited edition launches hitting shelves this year, it’s hard to not feel overwhelmed or worried you’ve made the wrong choice; but I’ve found seven perfect last minute gifts for the luxe beauty lover that will undoubtedly please any recipient. Whether it’s your mum, your sister, your in-laws or best mate, any one of these will show them you care – if you can bare to hand them over!
Jo Malone Rose & Magnolia Cologne (£104.00)
It’s not Christmas without a special edition JML scent, and this year they’ve definitely created something that looks extra special and smells even better. What you may dismiss as an old fashioned floral scent is actually really pleasant; inspired by the night sky, it contains “luminous magnolia and a duet of roses, blooming and enchanting” alongside sensuous patchouli and warm amber to keep it feeling like a modern interpretation of a classic combination. I’m a big fan of rose scents, but often they’re heavy and dated – this combines the sweet Rose de Mai and the spicy opulence of Rose Damascena to provide a beautiful fragrance that will transcend generations and tastes. An absolute fail safe gift.
Spectrum Collections Moonlight Highlighter (£12.99)
Part of their debut makeup collection, this moon inspired highlighter is a delight. The warmth of pink tones combined with effortless shimmer ensure this is easy to wear and beautiful on most lighter skin tones; it buffs effortlessly into skin to leave a subtle glow across the cheekbones, perfect for when you want to create radiance from within. It looks so much more expensive than it is, so if your budget stretches further then the rest of their Zodiac-inspired cosmetics collection is also a delight. (The only thing I’m not so personally keen on is the mascara.)
Molton Brown Bizarre Brandy Bath & Shower Gel (£24.00 | Currently £16.80)
I adore this collection so much I’ve written a whole blog post on the offering, but this has to be a key gifting piece and gratefully received by men and women alike. You can’t go wrong with a bottle of Molton Brown under your tree, and this luxury shower gel contains subtle sparkles alongside a shade that could easily be mistaken for hard liquor. The scent lingers on skin just long enough to make the price point worthwhile, but is even more luxe when dropped into a steaming hot bath – plus it comes in a bauble version if you’re not au fait with wrapping!
Bobbi Brown Luxe Gems Eye Shadow Palette (£59.00)
Although this seems to be sold out online, I’ve been told it’s still found on many in-store Bobbi Brown counters. I live for the festive collections from this brand and sometimes they exceed all expectations, but in 2019 they’ve blown it out of the park completely; every single thing is outstandingly covetable. The pinnacle for me is this Luxe Gems palette which not only looks divine from the outside, but contains seven incredible shades inside. With a combination of metallic, shimmer, iridescent and matte, it covers all your bases while remaining incredibly wearable – every single skin tone could wear every single shade and look fabulous. I’m obsessed with the rich metal ‘Electric Sapphire’ and the ‘Black Pearl’ sparkle, both of which are shimmery without being super glittery and work even better when applied wet.
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist, Rose Gold Limited Edition (£28.00)
If you’ve not tried this cult facial mist before, then you really must; Omorovicza revived a 14th Century beauty recipe, originally devised for the Queen of Hungary, to create a purifying, toning and protective facial mist that’s adored for its phenomenal rejuvenating properties. Containing Hungary’s thermal water alongside Rose, Orange Flower and Sage Leaf Water, this smells amazing and leaves your complexion feeling instantly revived. Whether you use it as a final step in your morning or evening regime, after a face mask or just to refresh on the go, it’s delightful to use and feels super luxe – plus the mist is much lighter and finer than many others I’ve tried. This Christmas it’s available in limited edition rose gold packaging, so it’s the perfect excuse to treat a loved one (or yourself!)
Bare Minerals Little Gems Face Mask Gift Set (£29.00)
These four little tubes of gem-inspired face masks are sure to be gratefully received during the season of over-indulgence, providing a much-needed moment of luxurious pampering and me-time. Each tube provides enough for two or three masks (depending on how generous you are!) and are perfect for multi-masking too: the gold mask helps hydrate with Hyaluronic Acid, the amethyst mask helps revitalise tired-looking skin, the sapphire blue mask helps detoxify and the pink diamond helps give skin a radiant glow. Each mask applies and dries down metallic, perfect for those selfie moments, making taking care of your skin all the more enjoyable.
ARK Skincare Nutmeg, Cinnamon & Clove Luxury Home Candle (£27.00)
If in doubt, a seasonal candle is always the way to go – and ARK’s festive offering is so warming that it offers the instant comfort of a cosy blanket. You don’t need to splurge to get great quality, with this being hand poured in the UK and offering up to 50 hours burn time. Even without lighting it my office smells incredible, and the candle itself is definitely bigger than my Jo Malone and Molton Brown ones; for the price point you really can’t do better, plus you’d be supporting a growing British brand too!
If you’re still shopping, don’t worry; any one of these seven last minute luxe beauty gifts is sure to bring a smile to your loved one’s face and show them how much you care. Now you’ve only Christmas lunch to worry about…
