The Pink Coat Of Dreams & Knee-High Boots For Chunky Calves

No matter how much I try to resist it, Winter Is Coming. I seem to have blinked and it’s jumped from June to almost Christmas, taking with it my ability to wear a slip of a dress and not feel the chill; now every day requires layers, fluffy lining and something on my head. Although I have a wardrobe full of fluffy jumpers I’m not ready to sack in dresses altogether, so the annual search for a decent pair of knee high boots continued in order to allow me to keep warm and look stylish simultaneously. As a woman with chunky ‘ballet dancer calves’ (I was a ballerina from 4 to 18) that have never been able to successfully fit in mainstream sizes, the task of finding something practical yet on-trend that doesn’t squish my legs together so they look like a multi-buy of sausages has been somewhat impossible… But now I think I’ve found the ultimate pair of knee-high boots for bigger calves.

Thank you Simply Be! These chunky knee-highs* feature a stretchy panel that fits beautifully around the leg to ensure a great fit, while the zip is sturdy enough for you to pull the seams together when you need a little extra help. A chunky sole ensures comfort and practicality too, making these an absolute gem of a wardrobe addition for autumn; even better is the price, at a more than reasonable £49.00. Yep, they may be the best knee-high boots for bigger calves I’ve ever found!

As for the rest of the outfit, I’ve taken a statement long-sleeve and high-neck leopard print dress* and paired it with a statement pink coat* that’s received so many complements since I’ve been wearing it. The slightly oversized shape keeps it feeling relaxed, but the wool fabric ensures it’s an investment will last for years to come and liven up any other outfit I wear this winter; I’ve already styled it with a smart LBD as well as jeans and a jumper.

Finishing the look off is this fab circular leopard print glitter clutch bag*, that also doubles up as a cross-over bag if you want to add a little extra sass and sparkle to your look. It’s surprisingly roomy, sturdy and wearable – so much so that I think it looks just as fab dressed down for daytime with clashing animal print as it will with a party dress at Christmas. I’m so into taking bold prints even further with statement pieces, clashing designs and a pop of colour – and this is just the finishing touch I needed.

Is the coat as bright as in your pictures? It looks a bit darker on the website but bright is my thing!

The pictures have got a bit of a filter on them, but it’s definitely bright and bold!

I’ve missed your fashion posts and can’t wait to see what you’re wearing for the holidays. I tried to buy the sequin & velvet dresses last year but they were sold out. And thank you for usually including all sizes. You always look amazing.

Ahhh thanks Heather – the darker days mean it’s harder to shoot, but I have some to share soon 🙂

That is a lovely coat! I so wish I didn’t have to repair my basement after a bit of a flooding 🙂 I can just hope it’ll be around for the sales later on.
You look lovely in bright colours, I think.
