Today is International Women’s Day, a day for celebration and collective support. It’s a day to recognise, praise, show love and say thanks to those women in our lives who have made us who we are and continue to make a positive impact on the world around them – no matter how small or large. It’s a day adopted by many corporations, businesses and brands, but few manage to collaborate or put forth an authentic proposition that actually does more to cut deeper into the issues that impact thousands (if not millions) of women across the world. However, one of my favourite beauty brands this year continues their partnership with a hugely important charity that makes a real difference: the Bobbi Brown x Lulu Guinness limited edition makeup bag brings together not only two female-headed powerhouses, but supports a female-centric charity (Smart Works) that aims to empower women and get them back into the world of work.
Building on their Pretty Powerful campaigns of the last six years, Bobbi Brown have launched this limited edition makeup bag that contains two of their best selling products: Smokey Eye Mascara (£25.00) and Art Stick (£22.50) in Bare. For the price of £35.00 you get an amazing quality makeup bag by one of Britain’s most celebrated female designers, plus two products that have a combined value of £47.50 – a huge bargain that you’ll be wise to snap up!
What’s amazing about this partnership is that ALL the proceeds (minus VAT) will go direct to Smart Works in order to continue their incredibly vital work. If you don’t know much about this charity, Smart Works provide high quality interview clothing, styling and beauty advice, as well as interview training, to out-of-work women, allowing them to feel their best and giving them the self-believe they need to transform their life. So far Bobbi Brown have already helped to raise in excess of £250,000 and supported the launch of an additional six centres.
The women directed to Smart Works come from care homes, homeless shelters, mental health charities, prisons, job centres and many more – so often have nowhere else to turn. It’s such a simple idea, but the positivity it breeds and impact it has on womens lives is incredible. Now the Duchess of Sussex has been announced as a patron, the charity is getting even more attention and support so it can continue its crucial work; well deserved, if I do say so.
I love the bag and would say it’s definitely worth the £35.00 alone, but the makeup products inside make it even more covetable. The fact that you know all of that money (less VAT) is going towards the charity too makes it a collaboration worth supporting and a brand worth celebrating.
Happy International Womens Day!
