The week or so of glorious sunshine we had a little while ago filled us with hope that spring was finally on its way; we stripped off those layers, embraced a bare leg and rummaged around trying to find our fave pair of sunglasses – and it was amazing. When you’ve been wrapped up in metaphorical blankets for the past few months there’s really nothing to compare with those first days of warmth hitting your skin, or being able to drive around with the window down so you can breathe in the fresh air. Commuting into London became a joy rather than a chore, and it felt freeing to be outside for longer than thirty minute bursts… But alas, it was all temporary. For we collectively bloomed too soon, only to be greeted with a flurry of snow and the onset of rain once again. The joys of British weather!
Although I’m now firmly back into jeans, jumpers, coats and boots, I do have these pictures of one of my fave springtime looks to reflect upon – reminding me it was more than a mere mirage. A floral midi (cut literally from the same cloth as my fave floral dress from last year) and a pair of fresh white kicks is all I need to transition into sunshine with glee. Those few days of warmth upon my skin has reminded me how much I cherish it, and how much of a positive impact it has on my mood and productivity; I’ve decided that I’m absolutely a summer person, and that a bright day has the power to instantly lift me. (Maybe I’ll eat my words when it’s thirty degrees and my thighs are chaffing again…)
So here’s until the next bloom of sunshine and the ‘real’ onset of spring…
I’m ready for you. And so is my wardrobe.
