There’s no denying the joy a great lipstick, balm or gloss can bring every time its taken out of your handbag; I’m known to have at least three on me at any one time, just in case I want to change things up or give my pout a little pick-me-up, and the ones that make the cut are more often than not the prettiest. Although I do adore a budget find and take pride when I find something that costs the same amount as my Starbucks order, the beauty lover in me also appreciates the fine craft and art that is injected into a more premium offering. With that hat on, so many of the prettiest lipsticks and balms have landed on my desk of late – so I thought I’d highlight five of the best, each of which leave me drooling (figuratively) with excitement.
Rodin Luxury Lipstick* (£28.00)
You may wince at the price, but you can tell how much craft has been injected to this little beautiful pack. I adore the transparency of the plastic and the elegant and timeless floral design, that enhances rather than overshadows the bullet within. The bullet is enriched with rose and lavender flower wax, apricot and argan oils, plus Rodin’s signature jasmine and neroli oils which provide the subtle yet enchanting scent. The colour result is unexpectedly sheer and subtle, enhancing lips rather than overpowering them, so even the most understated of you would enjoy every shade.
Darphin Nourishing Lip Oilgloss* (£22.00)
The photos of this really don’t do it justice, because inside that transparent tube are actual rose petals! Although they do have a tendency to clump at the bottom and need a bit of swishing about to get the full effect, the result is something truly unique and utterly stunning. 100% vegan, the formula features Vitamin E to comfort and protect dryness, Omega 6 and 9 to plump lips alongside Apricot and Grapeseed oils for a high shine finish; the petals are also there for a reason, helping to nourish, month and rejuvenate lips.
Origins Blooming Bold Lipstick* (£18.00)
Yep, cult skincare brand Origins is getting back into the makeup game and these blooming beautiful lipsticks are a great way to make a splash; utterly stunning in every way, I adore the floral casing and the metallic base – but it’s the richness of the bullet that makes an impact as soon as you apply. Infused with flower butters, crushed petals and essential oils from a blend of twelve flowers, the result is a super comfortable colour result that you won’t hesitate to reapply.
Ciate Wonderwand Lipstick* (£16.00)
A brand that just never stops, these super slim nourishing and subtly shiny lipsticks are enriched with nourishing avocado oil and high pigment for a beautiful finish. Available in a multitude of shades, the packaging is almost as lush as what’s inside – I’m totally here for the colour matched ombre metal! If lipstick scares you or you prefer to tone it down in the daytime, these are the perfect addition to your makeup bag and great for spring.
Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto Caring Lip Balm* (£28.00)
Honestly, I don’t think you’re going to get a lip balm that beats this in the pretty stakes; the metallic casing, the dusty pink shade, the elegant bullet and the softness as it glides over lips – pricey, but worth it if you like to pull out something luxe from your handbag. Shea extract helps to soothe and nourish lips, while the pH formula also reacts to your skin to provide a bespoke finish that delicately enhances your natural tone. Almost too good to use!
Which of these have you got your eye on?
