A One Pot Wonder That’s Stood The Test of Time: Astral Is The Original Multi-Purpose Cream

Sponsored Feature In Partnership With Astral

Without a doubt our beauty regimes have become more complex than ever, with a product for every possible need and part of the body (that’s probably been produced on a remote kangaroo island and made with a sprinkling of fairy dust.) It’s easy to be swayed into buying a hundred different lotions and potions, and spending the equivalent time applying them every morning, but many of us are using this overload as an opportunity to take it back to basics – picking up the formulas that we know we can rely on to get the job done. Beauty trends come and go, but it takes a real hero to stand the test of time and consistently deliver. Since 1953, Astral has featured on the dressing tables of millions of women who’ve relied on it to fix their every skin need and beauty dilemma; the simple skincare secret has been passed down through generations, helping women (and men) look and feel their best from head to toe.

A super effective moisturising cream, Astral helps to nourish and protect skin by keeping essential moisture locked in; the rich, velvety smooth texture leaves skin feeling soft and supple for hours after it’s first been applied, leaving you to get on with your day. Simple yet effective ingredients make this a great staple for anyone wanting an effective, reliable and affordable skincare product: Lanolin, a rich natural waterproofing wax, creates a protective barrier that prevents the skin losing moisture to the environment without blocking pores, while Glycerine increases the hydration of the skin by attracting and retaining much needed moisture. Both are naturally compatible with the skin, meaning they’re easily absorbed with minimal faff, while the new Cocoa Butter variant includes this much celebrated ingredient that leaves skin feeling protected and hydrated.

Originally launched as a multi-use skincare treatment, Astral has always had a firm place in women’s hearts thanks to its flexibility – use it as a body moisturiser, hand cream, dry skin treatment, face cream, post shower hydrator or overnight mask! Women were constantly finding new uses for their little blue pots, sharing them with eachother and passing the uses on to friends and family. This notion of sharing beauty tips and advice is something Astral once again wants to bring to life, which is why they’re launching ‘Beauty 1-0-One’ Tip Exchange. A shout-out to the UK’s best beauty tips, those good-to-know money savers, and simple hacks to ensure you’re always looking and feeling your best, Astral want to bring them all together in one place so they can share them with men and women across the nation. Need some inspiration? Here are my top five ways to use the little blue pot!

1. Apply a thick layer of Astral after you’ve cleansed and leave it to absorb before bed; it doubles up as a moisturiser and a face mask, plus works beautifully with your usual serums and targeted treatments.

2. To ensure your fragrance lasts as long as possible, rub a little Astral on your pulse
points before you spray it; it helps to create a barrier and
stops the fragrance being so quickly absorbed into skin.

3. If your hair starts to frizz and you haven’t got any
smoothing serum handy, just apply a small amount of Astral to your hands and run fingers
lightly through your hair to reduce the static.

4. Mix a little Astral with your favourite foundation in the warmer weather or when you don’t fancy such a heavy foundation; it will apply easily and leave your complexion feeling fresh and full of moisture.

5. Feet looking a little worse for wear? Apply a thick layer of Astral all over and pop on a pair of socks, leaving for at least a couple of hours (or even overnight) to allow the cream to get to work. You’ll be left with super smooth and far healthier looking tootsies.

If you’ve got suggestions of your own, or just want to share some cracking beauty hacks, then let me know either in the comments below or on social media using the hashtag #OnePotWonder. For every person* that shares their favourite tip, hack, piece of advice or great suggestion Astral will give them a little blue pot of their best selling cream to say thank you – plus the chance to appear in their ‘Beauty 1-0-One’ Tip Exchange.

Goodness, this takes me back. I was only thinking about this the other day and I couldn't remember the life of me what it was called. I do love a good rich moisturiser. I had no idea there was a cocoa butter version either! I really want to get my hands on some now.

I like to cleanse my body with an exfoliating face cleanser like the NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix: a great way to achieve healthy, spot free skin on the body!

I have extremely dry cracked heels and I find a good way to soothe them is by using a really rich hand cream that is designed for really dry skin, after using this they seem to be so much softer.

My fave it is, less is more! Iā€™m of an age where heavy insta makeup emphasises every wrinkle and pore, so a fab of good moisturiser (Astral?) concealer and mascara is all I like!

I'm a real advocate of checking your make up in real daylight before I head out. I've got a stand alone mirror on a bathroom windowsill and this gives me a very good idea of how I'll look to the rest of the world. It has saved a fair few disasters!

I apply a thick layer onto my hands before washing up. Then when I put my marigolds on, the hot water makes the cream absorb into my hands leaving them super soft by the time the last dish is done! Rhi | http://www.rinkydinkyrhi.com

Before I shower in the morning, I grab a body brush and gently run it up my legs and torso, down my arms and down my back. Called dry brushing, this technique takes only a minute, but it's invigorating and exfoliating and boosts circulation. I also keep a bottle of body oil in the shower; once the water is off, I rub it over my still damp arms and legs. I pat dry and I'm good to go, with amazingly smooth skin.

Exfoliate your skin regulary as the moisturiser will be absorbed better #OnePotWonder

Before doing my face make up, I always apply at least 1 layer of moisturiser and leave to settle for 10-15 minutes, and sometimes will repeat this again if needed. This gives me a soft base for my foundation, which would otherwise wreak havoc with my dry skin! #OnePotWonder

My tip is every time you apply moisturiser to your face, apply some to your elbows as well. Your elbows often get forgotten about but actually need more to keep them smooth.
