Swap That LBD For A Splash Of Colour: Getting Colour Confident With Dove Invisible Dry

We’ve all been there. You stand in front of the wardrobe in attempt to gain a little style inspiration, only to end up pulling out a safe and reliable little black dress. It hides our bumps, it looks elegant and you know you’ll never be over or under-dressed in a classic cut and shade – but it’s time to swap that LBD for a LCD (little colourful dress!) once and for all. This Summer Dove wants to encourage and inspire women to have the confidence to wear any colour they like, every single day, because Dove Invisible Dry antiperspirant is proven to leave no white marks on 100 different colours. If you’ve ever been afraid of colour or thought you couldn’t wear it without being on holiday (when there are a whole set of new colour rules,) then you’d be wrong; there’s nothing like a pop of purple or splash of shocking pink to put a smile on your face and spring in your step – and it’s been proven! (More on that later.) To practice what they preach, Dove has teamed up with style guru and lover of the bold and the bright Gok Wan, to create The Dove Dress of 100 Colours; it’s inspired by the 100 colours that make UK women feel their most confident, officially making it the most colour confident dress in the country! Not only is it in an incredibly flattering style, but it proves colour doesn’t have to be scary.

Gok Wan says: “Making women feel confident in their own skin is
something I feel really passionate about, and why I was thrilled to
partner with body-confidence champions Dove, to create the Dress of 100
Colours. We know that the majority of British women fear wearing colour
so I hope that women across the country take inspiration from this
bespoke dress and feel confident to pick up their favourite colour and
wear it with pride.”
It’s unsurprising that 60%* of UK women say that wearing a colourful dress makes them feel happier and more confident compared to when they wear a black dress. However, lack of body confidence is cited as the key factor steering women away from wearing colourful clothes – with 79%* of UK women saying their skin tone, body shape and not being ‘slimmer’ are what directs them to darker colours. (By the way, it’s a complete myth that black always makes us look smaller; it’s about picking the right style, shape and size rather than the colour.) Ladies, stop it. You look fabulous.

Dove Invisible Dry provides the confidence to wear your favourite colour without worrying about unsightly white marks, meaning you can step out the door feeling amazing and stay that way all day long. As well as providing you with 48 hour protection against underarm sweat and odour, each of the products in the Invisible Dry range is also packed with all the goodness you would expect from Dove, leaving you with effective protection and beautiful results. Containing the unique ¼ moisturising cream, Dove Invisible Dry antiperspirant helps take care of your skin after shaving and helps keep your underarms soft and nourished. It’s been my antiperspirant of choice for as long as I can remember, helping me to feel protected without worrying about white marks, and I’ll continue to pick up the little white cans for as long as they make them! If I’ve inspired you to embrace colour a little more than usual, then Annie Ashdown, Dove’s Colour Confidence Expert, has provided me with some top tips to share with you in order to get you all colour confident and showcasing the best of blue, green, yellow and red this summer. She says “it’s important to become aware how much the colours we wear play a key role in our personal strengths, happiness and serenity.”

1. Small changes, small steps a day at a time can transform women’s lives. If you want to feel empowered, be your own cheerleader, be bold – ditch the black, white and grey, add a new colour to your wardrobe; from the sincerity of peach to the vibrant energy of turquoise. I guarantee you will feel the difference!

2. Scared to embrace colour for the first time? It doesn’t matter how small the actions are as long as you are taking them. If you run or go to the gym and always wear white socks,  ditch the white socks and wear a blue pair! This will help you to remember just how  sincere, genuine and authentic you are.

3. Turquoise demonstrates high self esteem and confidence. If you are feeling tired, stressed and/ or having a bad hair day, perk yourself up and feel more empowered, confident and energised by wearing a pair of small turquoise stud earrings with your suit.

4. Need a confidence boost at work? If Magenta could speak, it would say: ‘I’m a powerhouse. I have excellent negotiating skills and inspire others through being innovative and creative.’ Treat yourself to a gorgeous magenta coloured scarf and wear it on those days you need reminding of your wonderful qualities.

5. Entertaining clients or hosting a party? Wear a pair of killer gold heels. Gold lets others know you have high standards and are someone not to mess with. You will feel happy and confident within and draw people to you like a magnet.

6. We’re all naturally drawn to particular colours.  If you are magnetised by mint green you are generous, balanced, grounded and sincere.  If you lack confidence on your first meeting with the future in laws or at an interview – choose a mint green varnish for your pedicure. It doesn’t even matter if you are not wearing open toe shoes; by tapping into the real you, you WILL feel more confident within!

So the next time you’re stood in front of the wardrobe, make sure you pick out the boldest colour you’ve got on offer and embrace the confidence a spritz of Dove Invisible Dry can offer.

I have recently been trying to put more colour into my wardrobe as I am a firm grey lover and have found that colour really does change your mood. The dress in this campaign is beautiful! itsjustbecky.blogspot.co.uk

It's lovely isn't it! Looking through my wardrobe this morning to find a monochrome outfit for a shoot, I actually realised I wear very little black in summer – it's all colour and pattern! The sunshine makes me more adventurous I think : )
