The Solution To Your Mis-Matched Foundation Woes: The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops

The number one makeup disaster, no matter your skin tone or age, is a mis-matched foundation. With flourescent lights and over zealous in-store assistants, it’s easy to pick up what you think it the perfect shade but actually get it home to discover it’s some unsightly shade of orange. Perfectly matching your skin to a base colour is tricky business – and that’s before we’ve even taken into account the changing seasons and impact of sunny days on our complexions. I’ll bet that at any one time you have a portfolio of foundations that just don’t quite match, leaving them lingering at the back of your makeup storage for yet another day when they’ll miraculously become the right tone for you. Well don’t fret, because one little bottle of magic potion could solve all your base worries… And it only costs a tenner!

The Body Shop may not be as well known for their makeup as their
pampering body lotions, but helpful products like these Shade Adjusting Drops prove they’re a
force to be reckoned with. This lightweight creamy texture can be mixed
with any foundation to help lighten and brighten a formula, putting
control back in your hands and ensuring a professional finish. The Adjusting Drops are quite pigmented so you only a need a little, but you simply mix on the back of your hand using a finger or brush and apply as normal.

Until now this kind of product has only been available through high-end or professional brands, having been somewhat of an industry secret than ensures a perfect match; it’s great to see someone so ‘high street’ dabbling in under-the-radar concepts that can really make a difference on a daily basis. You can even use the drops alone as a highlighter or contouring tool, as the creamy texture smooths over skin to leave it looking fabulous. The application technique and product itself isn’t rocket science, but it’s definitely worth having a bottle of this within your reportoire – because you never know when it may save your bacon.

How great is this?! I constantly have to change my foundation between summer, to autmn and then the depths of winter I'm nearly transparent, so this is perfect for that. I tried in store the other day and I am impressed with it :)

This is a really great concept and I'm definitely interested in picking this up for myself! I usually tend to mix my foundations to get a perfect match and/or lighten them with the L'Oreal Lumi primer, (which works pretty well!) I'll be keeping an eye out for this one!Kirsty –

I've been hearing so much about this, I need to try it for myself! I always find my foundations are too dark so I would love an easy way to lighten them!xx, A Little Dose of Makeup

Def need this in my life so I can use two expensive foundation mistakes ( and interesting the ones where I was advised re which colour to get by the "expert" assistants!). One being the Touché Éclat one which I get a little pang of guilt at every time I notice it languishing in my make- up drawer. That and a Bare Minerals one. I don't often spend lots of money on a foundation as I'm pretty happy with both the texture and colour of Bourjois Healthy Mix serum no52, but now and again want to see if high end will deliver just that bit extra? So I was so annoyed both times being given colours that were far to orangey…do people ever try and return foundations…? Can you…?

This seems like an interesting product and much more affordable than the cover FX drops. I never tried any of the body shop's makeup products before but I want to give this a try.♥ // Perfect Shade of Mauve

Love the concept, I just hope the drops don't change the formula of the foundation too much! The Beauty Locker

Sounds like something I'd like! I always buy the lightest shade in foundation, but sometimes I still feel like it's a bit too dark for my skin, especially in winter!

I need this in my life, the amount of foundations I have stashed away but can't wear because they are too dark brings a tear to my eye. I will defo be picking this up asap.

I definitely need to give this a go! I've bought so many foundations in the past that have just been that bit too dark for me so this would be perfect – and only £10 too! x

A concept I have never heard before. I might have to pick up a bottle for myself and see if my MAC foundation could be used as I feel it is a waste of money just sitting in my make up collection just waiting for the day I can wear it again.

Foundations often oxidize on me, especially cheap ones ?, nothing like buying a bottle that looks fine when you test it in the store, then once home, finding it goes orange on you! They shouldn't do that in this day and age!

I know for a fact that I will definitely be picking up some of these soon. I really struggle to find anything that suits me when I'm not fake tanned as even the lightest shades don't seem to cut it from most brands. I love that I can now take my favourite formula for when I'm tanned and adjust it accordingly. Thanks for sharing! xMegan |

For very pale skinned girls like me this is pretty much a lifesaver. If you can't afford to go for a high-end brand that has a good range of shades your only option is the high street and many brands just don't cater for really pale shades. With a product like this it means you could use any brand that you wanted but be able to adapt their lightest shade available to one that actually works for you x Becky @ The Little Blog of Beauty

I'm so so pale that these will definitely be of use to me for all the foundations I have that I like but are just a tad too dark.Emily // Beauty and Lifestyle Blogxx
