Much has been said in the bloggersphere about Pixi’s Glow Tonic,
with positive reviews and commentary causing it to sell out quicker
than it can be re-stocked. Knowing that you can only buy it online or
from Pixi’s one stand-alone store in Carnaby Street, only appears to
make it all the more desirable – I’ve known people to buy out a complete
shelf just in case they can’t track any more down for the rest of the
year. I’ve been using it for nearly a year and love it more than I’ve ever loved a toning product before, knowing it helps me achieve a glowing complexion that’s imperfection free. (Read my original review here.) Seeing as this one wonder product has put the entire Pixi brand on the map, it’s about time they followed up with a skin portfolio that’s set to cause even more of a stir amongst beauty enthusiasts. This is no capsule collection, featuring oils, cleansing treats, innovative sprays, eye elixirs, night treatments and so much more beside. I’ve been putting them to the test and can safely say that Pixi are set to cause further hysteria with products that are both effective and affordable – while adding a touch of fun into an otherwise boring process.
Known for their spritzes and sprays (I use their makeup setting spray regularly,) Pixi are expanding their reportoire with a Hydrating Milky Mist (£18.00). The featherlight formula provides an instant surge of hydration, thanks to the inclusion of hyaluronic acid to plump skin, while a blend of black oat, provitamin A, and linoleic acid makes this the perfect first layer of moisture before serums or makeup. I spritz a touch on before applying my usual skincare and it definitely helps to create a nourished base, without overloading skin or causing slip.
If you’re a lover of anything multi-functional, then the botanical blend of Rose Oil (£26.00) is infused with a powerful complex of youth-preserving oils to help improve skin’s elasticity and glow. Sweet almond, rosehip, jojoba, pomegranate seed and rose geranium oils leave the complexion feeling comforted and smooth, while the delicate scent makes it smell almost good enough to eat. Add it to moisturiser, foundation or face masks, apply directly to the skin, or even use it as a pick-me-up for cuticles and dry patches.
The H2O Skin Drink (£24.00) is perfect for those of you who don’t like the sticky or heavy feeling moisturisers often provide, being an incredibly lightweight gel that literally melts into a watery-like texture upon application with the skin. It features encapsulated water, as well as being enriched with green tea, aloe vera and rosemary to protect and heal, making it perfect for when you’re in a rush but don’t want to skip the moisturising stage of your routine.
As someone who’s obsessed with night creams and bedtime formulas, I was really excited to see what Pixi could offer me with their Beauty Sleep Cream (£24.00). This fast-absorbing, nutrient-rich cream helps to protect, nourish and hydrate skin while you sleep; it contains 100% natural mango butter, plus lavender oil to help you drift off. Although the results the next morning aren’t outstanding, it’s a great staple that’s also great for traveling – thanks to the space efficient bottle.
Although the Eye Elixir, Cleansing Cloths and Hydrating Milky Serum haven’t left me feeling wowed, the Glow Mud Cleanser (£18.00) is definitely a new firm favourite. It’s an odd sensation to cleanse your face with something that looks like mud, but it lifts away impurities to leave my face feeling clean – but not stripped or tight. It contains 5% glycolic acid to gently exfoliate and reveal a glowing, healthier-looking skintone, while the mud deep cleans and detoxifies pores; hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and avocado oil plump skin to leave my complexion feeling smooth and clear. It’s like a treatment and cleanse all in one.
There are so many more products from the range that I haven’t even touched upon, including a cleansing balm, night mask, peel pads, serum and daytime moisturiser, but from what I’ve tried this is definitely a collection of products to watch. Generally speaking, they’re both a pleasure to use and effective at delivering the results I need – the textures, scents and application techniques put a little twist on the run-of-the-mill products I’m used to seeing, adding a touch of excitement that just wasn’t present in my skincare routine before. Here’s to Pixi skincare taking over the world, one bottle of oil at a time.
