The Body Shop ‘Italian Summer Fig’ – plus a new look for their fragrance collection

There’s huge change in the air for The Body Shop this year. Exciting things lie ahead, especially the complete brand overhaul and re-design that’s starting with the ‘Spa of the World’ collection (read my full review here.) As their fragrances have been a core part of their business for decades, and the little bottles evoke so many memories and emotions just by looking at them, it seems only right that they’re paid a little more attention than they’ve previously been accustomed to. Not only have the iconic bottles been re-designed to encompass the shape of a globe (the ingredients are sourced globally and each individual scent has a story to tell from one of the four corners,) but there’s a new sparkling and refreshing fragrance to help us step into the warmer months with ease: Italian Summer Fig. Composed of green notes and honey fruit figs, the unusual scent is uplifting while offering a hearty base that stems from the exotic shores of the Italian coastline.

The heart of the perfume offers floral flavors of rose that are ‘spiced with saffron’, while the
base dries down to provide a floral-fruity union with warm, woody notes of oak
and amber. I associate the scent of fig being quite sweet, but this definitely airs on the side of caution; The Body Shop have utilised the fruity side of the note to produce a warming sexy fragrance that can still be worn daily. Their scents are so iconic (both in bottle and fragrance,) but this is definitely a modern twist and a new direction for a brand known for sticking to a relatively similar fomula over the years. Although I’m sure there will be lots of dissappointed fans that prefer the original, this more elegant design and modern approach will surely take the brand to the next level and ensure it appeals to a whole new customer. Nodding to the design of fragrance favourites Viktor & Rolf and Jimmy Choo, these certainly look more elegant on my dressing table than the chunky and heavily branded previous incarnations. Who knew a scent from The Body Shop could be as covetable as a designer fragrance three times the price!

What do you think of this new look for The Body Shop’s fragrances? Are you tempted to try Italian Summer Fig?

The bottle looks so much more high-end than their previous, yet still at a great price! Can't wait to go give it a sniff.Megan xoThumbelina Lillie | UK Beauty & Fashion Blog

I do like the box but I have to say I'm not keen on the new bottle design. I'm certainly not attached to the previous design, I think it could have definitely done with an update, but I'm not keen on the design they've gone for. Not that that would put me off buying one of their perfumes if I like the fragrance x Becky @ The Little Blog of Beauty
