Product Of The Week: Shiseido Multi Solution Gel (For All Your Pimple & Dry Skin Needs)

Some of the best product discoveries come in small packages, and this little silver wonder is no exception. Although it may look like just another skincare product, the cute mushroom-shaped pot contains a hardworking and multi-purpose gel that could be my new best friend. I don’t suffer with frequent breakouts or too many problematic dry areas, but when I do I want them sorted fast; only pleasant formulas and easy-to-use products will do. Tiny but tough, Shiseido’s Ibuki Multi Solution Gel is a speedy skin repair treatment that can be used at any time to rescue skin from damage caused by stress and lifestyle habits. It effectively combats spots, open pores, redness and dry patches, without irritating the surrounding area. The bouncy, non-greasy and innovative texture can be applied on bare skin or even over make-up, making it a handbag essential too.

It may look peculiar, but the tinted green gel can be massaged into skin with ease without leaving any residue on the surface. You need the smallest amount, meaning it’s much easier to apply with a cotton bud than your finger – especially as the gel is much more fluid than you anticipate! I’ve been using this on annoying hormonal pimples overnight, knowing that by the morning they’re significantly reduced (if not gone completely) thanks to the inclusion of salicylic acid. It’s also great at hydrating little dry patches or using on cuticles that are in need of some serious attention; I’ve even used it on little blisters that have appeared, as the cooling sensation really helps the imperfection to feel soothed.

Although this wouldn’t clear up acne or serious breakouts, it’s great for those annoying little pimples that pop up after a heavy night out; so many other spot treatments clear up the spot but leave you with a crusty and dried out surrounding area, but this offers hydrating benefits simultaneously to avoid that completely. If you suffer with mild eczema this may also help soothe those little irritating bits on hands and arms, while it’s also perfect to top-up throughout the day when areas are feeling a little dry. The unusual ‘dry gel’ formula means the possibilities are endless – I’ve no doubt I’ll find many more uses for this over the coming months, as it sits on my dressing table waiting to save the day. I’m not one for traditional spot treatments (their smell alone often puts me off,) but that’s not to say I don’t need a helping hand in a while… The Shiseido Ibuki Multi Solution Gel provides just that. At £30.00 it’s not cheap, but it is effective; it also promises over 100 applications, ensuring you definitely get your money’s worth!

Do you turn to any other spot or dry skin treatments that are more suited to non-teen complexions?

The Shiseido Ibuki Multi Solution Gel is available online priced £30.00.

I agree with you on that, the smell of most of these acne treatments is super strong — mostly because it's got strong ingredients like salicylic acid, etc. It's interesting you can put this on your cuticles. I love finding multi-functional products :)

Such a shame it's so pricey! This would work wonders on my skin at the moment; keep having breakouts and dry patches. May have to be a post-pay day investment… Xx Sophie

Same as me – and you get so much in the pot that it works out good value.
