Turn On The Music How many of us can resist bopping along to the radio, even if it's 6am? Turning on the tunes or playing some of your favourite playlists can help put a smile on your face and get your body moving. Music helps your mind to start working, which is the first step in helping yourself feel awake. Stretch It All Out Don't just stand up straight and yawn, but stretch like you're about to go running or do some serious exercise: touch your toes, stretch your arms behind your head and pull your feet towards your bum. This will really ensure blood gets flowing throughout your entire body. Use An Uplifting Body Wash Creamy, comforting scents may feel like a liquid blanket wrapped around you in the morning, but energising textures and stimulating fragrances will help to wake you up. Breathe & Meditate You can undertake a touch of meditation any time and any place, so why not breathe deeply and close your eyes while your conditioner is getting to work. Meditation is about connecting with your body and letting go of any constraints, helping your mind to feel ready to face the day. Apps such as Headspace provide great guides absolutely free, giving you a kickstart when you need it most. Splash Cold Water If the worst comes to the worst, splashing your face with a touch of cold water or reducing the temperature of the shower will give you a quick burst and ensure you're wide awake. Nobody can sleep through a cold blitz, no matter how sleepy you were when first emerging from beneath the sheets. Pummel Yourself Awake Dove's 'touch expert' Avni Trivedi recommends vigorous pummeling movements (squeezing and releasing quickly) along the arms to help wake up the body. "Applying pressure in circular movements around the jaw, cheekbones and temples will also help to awake the senses. Apply a fair bit of pressure, without doing anything damaging!"
