This week I’ve been talking lots about looking after yourself, having some ‘me time’ and pampering your body as much as possible. It’s so easy for the stresses and strains of daily life to get in the way of a well-balanced mind and perfectly preened body, so it’s really important to give yourself a little time to have fun and pamper yourself – inside and out. Although it’s easy enough to book yourself in for an expensive facial, spa weekend or full body massage, that can become incredibly expensive. It’s much nicer to be able to regularly treat yourself and not worry about the cost that’s associated. Therefore, I present to you my top five pampering moments that don’t cost the earth!
1. Get Blowdried
Not all of us can afford to visit the hairdresser every four weeks, relying on at-home colouring kits and last minute cut-price appointments. However, a blowdry costs next to nothing in comparison – especially as blowdry bars are popping up all over the country. You can grab a whole new style or look, injecting life and glamour into your hair for a special occasion, within thirty minutes and often for less than £25.00. Having a great blowdry from an expert stylist sometimes negates the need for a complete hair overhaul, while making you feel like a million dollars.
2. Treated Tootsies
One of my favourite things to do when I’m getting stressed and overworked is to go for a pedicure. At-home treatments are never the same and never last as long, while there’s something just a bit special about having someone care to your every foot need. It’s one of the only treatments I book regularly, especially in the summer months when my feet are frequently on show. Experiencing a pampering pedicure can leave you feeling like you’re walking on air, as well as providing a good hour to sit back with a magazine and coffee while someone else does the hard work.
3. Afternoon Tea For Three
This could be my favourite thing ever. Afternoon tea provides the perfect excuse to munch away on endless sandwiches, cakes and treats, sip on some delicious tea and catch up with loved ones. The small portions make it way more fun than a normal lunchtime, plus it’s an extra meal in the day with no excuses needed. You can get some incredible afternoon teas in London from only £20.00 per person, providing a huge amount of food and oodles of entertainment if you visit one of the luxurious hotels and venues that offer the service.
4. Girlie Sleepovers
It may seem a little 1995, but girlie sleepovers are a great way to spend a Friday night. Invite your friends over in their best onesie, put on Legally Blonde/Clueless/Mean Girls, catch up over a glass or two of wine and make the most of the time to chillax. Make the most of the downtime by applying a face mask, giving eachother manicures and even applying some of Dove’s new Purely Pampering Nourishing Body Oil to hands and feet for an even more preening. You’ll wake up looking and feeling fabulous.
5. Personal Shopping
We’ve all dreamed of being Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, walking down Rodeo Drive armed with bags of extravagant purchases, so why not take an afternoon to re-enact it? Most department stores offer a free personal shopping experience, providing you with a helping hand and a personal stylist to recommend outfits and looks you may not have previously thought of. All you have to do it book a slot and rock up, being greeted with a glass of champagne and a willing right-hand-woman for the afternoon. Although some do require a minimum purchase, it’s a great experience if you’re looking for a wedding outfit or new season wardrobe.
Do you have any other favourite ways to give yourself a pamper and a bit of ‘me time’ without spending a fortune? I’d love to know… Mainly so I can get involved!
