I’ve spoken many times about my love for candles, delicate lights taking up practically every inch of mantlepiece as soon as the sun starts to set. Although massage candles have long been a thing, they’re often a bit messy and impractical – especially as it’s somewhat of a challenge to get the product out of the container and onto the skin. Massage candles somehow contain magic wax that doesn’t heat up to the normal temperatures you’d expect, ensuring a great burning experience paralleled with a wax that’s cool enough to touch and massage between your fingers. Janjira have taken the concept a stage further by housing their candle in a ceramic pot that even features a pouring spout! It’s super easy to pour a little into the palm of hands and massage onto the body, or simply use as a cuticle treatment.
Although the aroma is a little bit disappointing and incredible subtle, the wax melts to leave a really delicate oil which doesn’t harden or cool on contact with the skin. Because it features nourishing soybean and coconut oil, you can use it as an intense hand cream or body treatment, or simply use the warm liquid to massage aching limbs – it’s great on feet after a long day. It does burn quicker than my other candles, probably due to the lighter wax required to get just the right temperature upon melting, but it’s great to have on a bedside table and use before you snuggle under the duvet. At £34.50 it’s not cheap, but it would make a great little gift for a loved one or an indulgent treat for yourself come payday. Would you invest in a massage candle, or will you be sticking to a Yankee Candle and tube of hand cream?
