No matter how much sleep you get on a Sunday night, Monday mornings are always incredibly painful. There’s something about forcing yourself out of bed and into work for the first time in two days that’s so much worse than any other day of the week. All the coffee in the world can only do so much, perking you up initially but letting you drop just as hard after a few hours. A few weeks ago, during my blogging slump, I would’ve done anything or bought anything to help me out of it; during a franctic trip to Boots I stumbled across these little bottles of flower essence from Balancing Blooms and swiftly ran to the till. After I’ve had such a great result from using Bach’s Rescue Night Remedy for the last few years, I was keen to see if these little vials of flower essence could help lift my mood and put a spring in my step.
Probably known more because of Bach’s Rescue Remedy, Bach flower essences are extracts from flowers which have a positive effect on emotional imbalances and mood swings that can impact self-confidence, stress and worrying. The name comes from Dr. Edward Bach, who discovered the healing method at the beginning of the last century. For decades these flower essences have proved useful for all kinds of emotional problems, including sleep deprivation, sadness, guilt, worry, fear and concentration. Although a lot of the essences are quite sweet in taste, these two are diluted in spring water and brandy – making them quite strong and not particularly pleasant! All you have to do is drop up to four droplets either straight onto your tongue or into water and they’ll get to work. Although you don’t feel an instant boost or reaction, after a couple of hours I realise I do feel slightly better and more alert. You can take these drops whenever you feel the need (unless you drink the bottle I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to overdose,) so if you’re having a particularly troublesome day you can keep adding a couple more to your water glass. With these kind of things I’m never sure if it’s more the expectation that adjusts your mood or if the essence really does do something, but over a hundred years of Bach’s method has got to count for something! I’ve been dropping them into a glass of lemon water during mornings I need to be on top form and I’m definitely noticing a difference in my outlook and positivity.
Would you give them a go?
