When Illamasqua launched their new Glamore lipstick collection, I almost wept with joy. Not only have they kept an incredible standard of colour and pigment, but they added a truly moisturising and comfortable formula that ensures lipstick is wearable all day long. Although they initially launched three statement colours, they’ve expanded the collection and now have seven new nude hues to choose from. Cheekily named things like Starkers, Naked, Tease, Minx and Buff, the colours launch this week and offer a more wearable approach to lipstick that’s more suited to day-to-day use – or simply keeping the focus on the eyes. The seven shades provide a spectrum of brown, right from a dark chocolate shade to a super pale latte colour; I was surprised at how pale the lightest shade is, even being too nude for my skin tone and making me look incredibly washed out! However, the mid-range colours are great for most skin types, while the chocolate colours provide a deliciously dark look for taking you into Autumn.
As with the original trio, these new lipstick shades are incredibly comfortable on the lips and provide fabulous pigment without drag. They glide over lips and sit beautifully, providing a moisturising formula that doesn’t dry out lips or cause flaking. You can comfortably re-apply the colour throughout the day, topping up with a little gloss or balm over the top for added shine and comfort. There’s a subtle sheen to the colours, catching the light without being too shiny, which helps to create a natural and understated finish. If you’re a fan of Illamasqua and are partial to a nude lip, then this new collection is definitely for you; however, I would thoroughly recommend popping into an Illamasqua store or counter to test the shades for yourself – the colours can be quite misleading in the bullet and it’s hard to work out which is your best shade. At £18.50 these are pretty pricey, but they’re some of the nicest lipsticks I’ve ever tried. They’re definitely worth a swatching session this weekend. What do you think of these new lipsticks?
