NEW From Nivea Sun: In-Shower Refreshing After Sun Lotion

With the summer sun comes inevitable tales of sunburn and heat radiating from our skin’s surface. (Top tip: don’t get burnt in the first place by understanding your SPF!) Sitting out in the sun not only dehydrates our skin, but can cause the upper layers to become sore and irritated; using an after sun lotion can help soothe the affected area and replace lost nutrients, which in turn can limit the damage caused by sun exposure. (However, nothing will beat wearing an effective SPF and re-applying regularly.) After sun lotions are a lot less popular than they could be, mainly due to their nature and being somewhat of an after thought. However, with Nivea’s new In-Shower After Sun Lotion they may well have cracked the conundrum and made applying after sun super simple.

Their in-shower moisturisers proved extremely popular when they were launched last year, speeding up our morning routines and ensuring our skin got a hit of hydration without the faff. I’m still re-purchasing these little bottles of goodness, as they’re great for use every morning when I simply don’t have the time or the inclination to battle with sticky legs and opaque tights. The new Nivea In-Shower After Sun Lotion builds upon the original idea, bringing the benefit of after sun to a cooling shower location.

For me, jumping into a luke warm shower after a day out in the sun is almost automatic. Now you can apply your after sun simultaneously, as this fab bottle of goodness contains a creamy lotion that can be applied to wet skin and left to absorb as it dries. Containing cucumber to soothe the skin, it instantly cools and hydrates while smelling really rather yummy. Although you can feel a slight residue on the skin, it’s a much better sensation than the thick, gloopy and sticky gels we’re used to. It’s such a simple and effective idea that will no doubt be copied by every sun care brand come 2015. Bravo Nivea, you’re a genius.

The Nivea In-Shower After Sun Lotion is available now in Boots, priced £6.00 (but currently available for half price!)

Sounds like such a good idea! You never intend to get burned, but when you do, good aftersun products make all the difference :)The Oxford Owl

At last! Definitely been a gap in the market for this kind of product for ages. The mint original source shower gel is also good on sunburn.

I actually used the normal in shower moisturiser last year when I was recovering from a really bad sun burn! So I'm really excited to try this out! (Although I'm hoping not to burn!!)Stephanie xxxx

I am so glad that After Sun Shower Gel has been brought back out, I used to use it years ago (I think it might have been Nivea back then) and then it suddenly disappeared from the shelves. I will definitely be stocking up!

I have eczema And a lot of things irritate my skin. This lotion doesn’t and smells amazing, feels lovely when I get out of the shower and keeps my skin in good condition without irritation when I’ve been out in the Sun. My trouble is I can’t seem to find it anywhere have they discontinued it?
