If you like YSL’s innovative Vernis À Lèvres glossy lip stains, then you’ll love their new Babydoll Kiss & Blush. Not only do they look good enough to eat, thanks to their super luxurious gold packaging, but the formula combines two technologies for a multi-purpose delicate finish. Developed for use both on the lips and the cheeks, the air-whipped texture contains a blend of pigments that ensures it adapts perfectly for use on either. The concentrated gel-like formula dries to leave a velvety smooth finish that’s neither matte nor dewy – it’s an unusual combination of both that catches the light and creates luminosity, while still offering a matte-like texture.
Available in twelve shades that cover the spectrum from subtle pink and delicate peach to bold cappuccino browns and bright rouge reds, there’s a colour to suit every skintone and need. The precision applicator takes cues from the glossy lip stains, providing just the right shape to outline the lip, while the addition of a ‘bead’ in the centre helps to pick up product and ensure it applies well to the cheeks. Although it is a bit odd to apply something that feels like a lip product to your cheeks, it’s great for when you’re in a rush or touching up on the go.
At £27.00 each, they’re pretty pricey – even by YSL standards – for a very small bottle of colour. If you were to use these on your cheeks regularly, I can imagine the formula getting used up pretty quickly and leaving you lusting for more. Although the trend is definitely for natural makeup this spring (meaning matching your lip and cheek colour for a natural finish that looks effortless,) Kiss & Blush for me is definitely more of a lip product will added depth and benefits. That being said, they’re still one of the most anticipated and yummy launches of 2014.
The YSL ‘Kiss & Blush’ lip and cheek stains launch in store on 30th April priced £27.00 each, but are currently available online.
