With so many eyeshadows claiming to be long-lasting, provide the ultimate pigment and blend like a dream, it’s hard to differentiate between the worthwhile and the worthless. If you love to create smokey looks and strong lines, then getting your eyeshadow right is essential. Similarly, a great eyeshadow base can mean the difference between a natural look and a forced look – you need to get it right and know you’re blending an eyeshadow you can rely on. After trying nearly every eyeshadow going, these three are the brands I return to again and again… Introducing my top three must have eyeshadow pots.
1. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Pot (£14.00)
I was late to the Urban Decay party, but my oh my they make fabulous eyeshadows. Every colour they make provides a fantastic result, promising a great payoff and incredible pigment that blends seamlessly across the lid. I always turn to Urban Decay when I want to create a strong look or a bold finish, as their shadows don’t run or flake. Although these are pricey when purchased individually, they work out a lot cheaper in a palette if you decide you can’t live without a whole collection.
2. Bourjois Little Round Pot Eyeshadow (£6.98)
Having been around for over 150 years, these little round pots hold an incredibly versatile formula. Designed originally as stage makeup, the eyeshadows provide a great texture and strong pigment which is further increased when the powder is applied wet. These blend extremely well and work even better as a base. A great budget buy too.
3. Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow Square (£17.00)
I love Bobbi’s pale colours to create a practically invisible base. Their nude shades work well on the naked eyelid, adding a touch of shimmer or helping to lighten a tired eye. The shades stick around for as long as I need them too, while the darker colours provide a subtle smokey result around the lashline. Personally I think their individual shades are pretty pricey, but bought in a palette or quad these are well worth the investment.
