With the cold winds about to hit our shores from Europe, the fur coats and thermals may be required a little longer. Although our hands may spend a lot of their time in pockets and gloves, there’s no reason why we can’t keep them looking top notch. However, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut and just keep applying the same old polish throughout the winter months, so I wanted to find out how you rock your winter nails in order to provide inspiration to others. There are some seriously talented nail artists out there, sporting some incredibly intricate and creative nail designs, but some equally nail varnish obsessed connoisseurs that prefer to keep things simple. So here are my top nine looks this week and how you wear your winter nails.
Dark and simple nails look uber sleek when nail length is kept to a minimum, as shown by @beautyqueenuk and @glamourcounty. Blacks, greys and berry colours keep it season appropriate, but also perfectly on-trend. These shades are so easy to wear and they go with every style of outfit, ensuring you don’t feel miss-matched every time you change your top.
It’s easy to perk up your manicure with a little seasonal nail art, as seen on the nails of @lyndseyp06 and @fluttersparkle. Snowflakes and snowmen aren’t just for Christmas, especially when we’re more likely to be building snowmen in February than December. I also love how they’ve used pale colours and pastel shades to make the design less Christmassy and more January appropriate.
If you’re wishing spring was here already, why not take a leaf out of @emherb_ and @bloomzy‘s book by moving your manicure into the next season early. Adding a hint of sparkle to spring shades (such as green or lilac) can lift your nails, while the pastel base coat is still in-keeping with your winter palette. Plus, floral and sparkle will lift your mood even when it’s still a week until payday.
