At this time of year it’s vital to be frugal. With gifts to buy, turkeys to order and parties to attend, our purses really do take a battering. So when it comes to fashion, what trends can we buy into now that will see us through the festive period, but still will look on-trend come spring? Here’s my low-down of the top trends that are worth investing in right now…
Prints Are In: I love being daring when it comes to fashion and there is little more daring than donning a statement print. Prints are one of the biggest trends right now (be it on a coat, dress, trousers or top,) as they can update an otherwise understated and classic style. Many women shy away from prints and understandably so; they’re tricky to get right, but when you achieve success the end result is fabulous. There’s nothing quite like taking a chance on your look and breaking away from tried and tested outfits to give you a confidence boost.
Pretty Florals: Floral patterns are fun, fresh and great for spring. The golden rule is that small floral prints are flattering on all, whereas the large and bold variety can swamp petite figures. Although you may not feel comfortable wearing a pastel yellow floral dress in January, darker blooms with deep backgrounds look equally perfect with a pair of tights or a summer cardigan.
Animal Magic: Zebra, leopard and even giraffe; animal prints (especially the statement pieces from Just Cavalli,) are a real head-turner. The key to wearing animal prints with ease is to coordinate with a plain piece of clothing. Pick a colour from within the print and use that for a complementing pair of trousers, skirt or bag. Dare to be bold and wear statement jewellery with your chosen print for extra impact!
Tailor Fit: A beautifully tailored outfit will never go out of style. Emilio Pucci offer beautifully tailored and elegant designs; from printed blazers, trousers to dresses and skirts, tailored pieces can be extremely versatile and last for seasons. A piece of tailoring will instantly inject an element of elegance, but can be updated with a statement piece of jewellery or structured bag.
