Having a lip balm close to hand at all times is a must for me, all year through. I can’t abide being without a soothing stick when my lips become unexpectedly dry, as I end up concentrating on nothing but the tightness of my pout. Chapstick hold a lot of memories for me, especially the mint and cherry flavours which instantly bring back visions of my school years. All my friends and I used to walk down to the chemist after school and stock up on the little tubes that made us feel glamorous; after all, lip balm was the only thing we were allowed to take to school! Although the brand still have the exact same products available for the next generation, it’s great to see them still innovating and launching new variants – such as these Lipsations Shimmer balms.
Available in berry and tropical flavours, each balm provides a subtle
scent and a delicate shimmer that adds a hint of depth to the lips.
Although these aren’t to be used as an intensive lip treatment or to
soothe seriously dry, chapped lips, they are a great cosmetic when you just need a hint of something. The balms aren’t drying, nor do they irritate lips that are slightly dry and in need of a soothing topcoat. Refreshingly, the added shimmer doesn’t provide the ‘gritty’ feeling often the result of the glittery particles; although the formula isn’t super smooth, it’s smoother than most! The shimmer result is subtle and perfect for when you don’t want your lips to go ‘naked’, as well as being a great intro into makeup for those pre-teen years. A perfect stocking filler that will see your pout looking fab well into 2014.
The Lipsations Shimmer Lip Balms are available now in Superdrug priced £1.99
