Vaseline Cocoa Challenge: Putting Cocoa Radiance To The Test

I’m currently wrapped up in a cardigan, scarf and two blankets, trying not to let the freezing temperatures outside penetrate my warm little cocoon. It’s winter and my limbs have been suffering; as soon as the winds pick up my poor little legs in their 40 denier tights seem to take somewhat of a battering. On some occasions they get so wind-beaten they look more like scales than legs, the top layer of skin becoming so rough and dry that it can flake off to leave painful patches that are only made worse by an aggravating body moisturiser. In order to help prevent that from happening as much as possible, I’ve been putting Vaseline’s Cocoa Radiance range to the test. In my previous post I outlined the benefits of chocolate (or cocoa) within a skincare routine, putting myself in the vulnerable position of being covered head to toe in the name of research. Essentially dark chocolate provides a multitude of skincare benefits, including
repairing dry skin. Iron, Calcium and Vitamins A, B1, C, D and E are
among the many nutrients that we can obtain from dark chocolate, all of
which help to deeply moisturise dry skin and leave behind a healthy
glow. Vaseline’s Cocoa Radiance contains cocoa extract in abundance to help provide skin with the nutrients it needs to look healthy and radiant… So how did I get on when I put it to the test?

My week long trial has been focused on the hero product within the
range: Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Essential Moisture Daily Body Lotion. The
formula is thick and creamy, providing just the right amount of density
to really feel like the lotion is getting to work. However, it’s
non-greasy and dries within around five minutes, ensuring you still have
time to apply in the morning before you dash out the door. I usually
save the body moisturiser for before bed, as I can’t stand the
sticky-tights feeling when a lotion simply doesn’t absorb; however, the
Vaseline lotion absorbed into my skin fast enough for me to do my makeup
and put my tights on last without getting in a twist. My legs felt
protected and instantly hydrated, as well as the delicate cocoa scent
helping to lift my mood and leave me feeling comforted. Before bed the
moisturiser provided me with a soft and soothing layer that could be
absorbed while I slept, with the scent allowing me to drift off and
dream of bathing in chocolate. I really like how rich the moisturiser is
and how it instantly helps to soothe and hydrate my skin; the texture
of the cream ensures it’s a pleasure to apply, while the end result is
smooth and supple limbs. Although my skin isn’t quite oozing radiance
just yet, the improvement in its overall texture and appearance is
already clear.

What’s even better is that the Vaseline
Cocoa Radiant formula is also available in a gel and spray format, for
those of you that need quicker results or a more intense injection of
moisture. The ‘spray and go’ moisturiser provides a much lighter texture
that it super quick to absorb, making it perfect for use when you’re in
a rush or for taking to the gym. Although the result isn’t as intense
as the body lotion, the lightness makes it a great addition if you’re
worried about sticking to your clothes (as well as being perfect for
warmer months.) The Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalising Gel Body Oil is an
innovative formula that is great to apply straight after a shower,
replenishing skin and helping to lock in moisture that is sometimes
stripped by gels and washes. Although this provides a strange sensation
initially (I’m not used to body oils at all,) the end result is a
non-sticky finish that catches the light to provide even the dullest of
skin with a hit of radiance. Considering prices of the Cocoa Radiance
products start at £2.99, I’m seriously impressed. I’ll continue to use
the lotions until the very last drop and will definitely be stocking up
again before the winter is out.

Vaseline Essential Moisture Cocoa Radiant Rich Feeling Lotion is available from Boots. Prices start at £2.99 for a 200ml bottle.
