The BIG Brow Debate

Brows may be my personal beauty weakness, but they’re something I always look out for in other people. It’s a well known fact that eyebrows are a vital component in framing your face, and big brows are a huge trend for A/W this year; think Cara Delevingne (obviously she couldn’t be forgotten.) It takes a certain amount of oomph to pull off the ‘Cara Brow’, but they’re slightly easier to manage if the colour is closer to your hair shade. The question is: what brow shape should we go for and what products will help us along the way?

There are SO many products available at the moment
to help make our brows look super defined: from eyeshadows to pencils,
stains and coloured wax. For the slightly more subtle look, an
eyeshadow carefully applied through the brows using an angled brush is
the approach to go for, but if you’re feeling confident I’d recommend a
wax or dark stain. These will help not only with the colour, but in creating shape and longevity of style. Key products to look out for include MAC eyeshadows: Espresso and Omega are great brow shades but they have so
many neutral, matte colours that the possibilities are endless. Benefit
have their bestselling and world famous brow palette ‘BrowZings’ with
uber-pigmented shades that really help to create fabulous brows, while Sleek’s Brow Kit dupe is great for those on a budget. Brow pencils are hard to get right, so if you’re on a budget make sure you test the pencil before you make a purchase to save wasted pennies. rushing into growing (or drawing in) big and bold brows this season, please do take your face
shape into account. Not all brow
shapes suit everyone and some of us may not only be
afraid to take the plunge into Cara land, but it may just not suit us or our style. As an alternative an arched brow gives a striking look without being too
overwhelming or face-consuming. Benefit’s iconic brow style can be created on practically any canvas, so why not pop along to a boutique for a consultation and quick re-style? The good thing about brows is that they re-grow, so don’t be afraid to try something a little different or play around with some great products from the comfort of your bedroom. Now it’s just up to us to decide which look to go for…

I still prefer my brows on the thinner side – I was born in the wrong decade because I love the pencil thin eyebrows from the 20's and 30's. I don't like Cara's eyebrows at all, they look like they need a trim!

I unfortunately have 'manbrows' thanks to my Dad (thanks Dad) which were just such a pain to keep looking thin and tidy. So when Cara appeared, I felt much better seeing a model with bigger eyebrows and decided to embrace them.
