Costa Coffee Does Christmas (Hoorah!)

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Did you know there are only ten weekends until Santa pops down the chimney and delivers us a giant tin of Quality Street to scoff? Despite the fact that I’m not actually sure where the year has gone, there’s one thing I get excited about when it comes to the Christmas countdown: Christmas beverages. There’s nothing I love more than an Amaretto Latte, a Toffee Nut Mocha or a Cinnamon Spiced Coffee to get me in the mood for festive shopping – and this year Costa Coffee have surpassed themselves. Launching into coffee shops nationwide on November 7th, they have a menu bursting with chocolate and spiced cherry goodness that will leave you dribbling at the mere thought. Not only that, but this year you’ll be able to get your festive beverage in an even more festive cup – pick from a Gingerbread Man (small), Snowman (medium,) or Santa Claus himself (large) depending upon the beverage size you choose. Now I’ve seen these, Starbucks can screw their red cups and Pumpkin Spiced Latte… Father Christmas cups trump everything. Fact.

The cups are all very well and good, but what about the stuff on offer to go in them? (Warning: this may cause you to put on two stone just by looking. You will also want to rush down to your nearest Costa and devour everything you can find.)

White Hot Chocolate & Cream: White chocolate sauce steamed with milk and topped with cream, cherry sauce and a little gold sparkle. This is like heaven in a glass for any fan of white chocolate; it’s sweet without being sickly and the golden glitter topping makes this truly special.

Honeycomb & Cream Hot Chocolate: Costa hot chocolate with an added shot of honeycomb syrup. The honeycomb is subtle but extremely tasty, bringing an extra hit to an otherwise delicious but basic hot chocolate; if Crunchie did hot drinks then this would be it in a cup.

Black Forest Hot Chocolate: Costa hot chocolate with an added shot of blackberry syrup; topped with cream, cherry sauce and a sprinkle of chocolate curls. I have no words other than: You. Must. Try. It. Truly a dream in liquid format. (Cough.)

Hot Spiced Apple: A piping hot spiced apple drink with star anise and cinnamon stick. Mulled wines and apple drinks are hard to come by, so this warming beverage will be a savour during those cold Christmas shopping sprees.

Gingerbread & Cream Latte: A Costa espresso with steamed milk,
served with Gingerbread flavoured syrup and topped with cream, a mini
gingerbread man and a little sparkle. Totally delicious and the most subtle gingerbread taste I’ve ever experienced in a coffee, this is great for those that aren’t even a great fan of gingerbread. Plus, it comes with a cute mini man to nibble on.

Salted Caramel & Cream Latte: Costa Espresso with steamed milk, served with salted caramel flavoured syrup, topped with cream and caramel sauce. A classic but a goodun – salted caramel is still big on the agenda, making this a future best-seller that will be a great 3pm treat.

There’s also a huge range of amazing cakes and treats offer to go hand-in-hand with your coffee, including gingerbread muffins, festive yule logs, reindeer cookies and much more. I tweeted and instagrammed my way through the preview tasting session last week, so if you haven’t already had a chance to drool at the goodies hitting stores soon then have a looksie here. I take no responsibility for you ruining your dinner…

The Costa Christmas collection launches in stores nationwide on the 7th November.
