As the sun fades away and leaves crispy autumnal leaves in its place, finding a great foundation to take you through to the next season is essential. You want to create a flawless, natural finish with little effort that lasts all day – not an easy thing to achieve, even though there are hundreds of formulas to choose from. Although I have at least ten different foundations and BB creams in my collection, these three are the ones I turn to without fail to see me through the colder days and chillier nights.
1. Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow (£25.50)
The perfect consistency for autumn days, this light and runny texture provides the skin with a much needed radiance boost without too much weight. It provides more coverage than you think, creating a flawless dewy complexion that still lets your natural glow shine though. It appears to brighten and plump the skin too, making it ideal for hungover days or when you’re just not feeling top notch. Although I’ve been wearing this all summer too, it’s great with a dusting of blush to create a fabulous autumnal look.
2. Revlon Nearly Naked (£8.99)
Never one to seemingly get it wrong, Revlon are becoming known as a go-to brand for foundations. Nearly Naked provides medium coverage that still allows your natural contouring to shine through, covering imperfections easily without caking or heaviness. The formula melts into the skin easily and is a pleasure to apply, lasting all day without the need for touch-ups. This is perfect to take you from day to night, or simply for using as the base for a heavy makeup look come the weekend.
3. Clinique Even Better (£24.00)
Perfect for when you need something a little heavier, Clinique’s Even Better Makeup provides glorious coverage when you need it most. I’ve used this through the sniffles many times, always knowing I can rely on it to make look better than I feel. It also contains SPF15, is oil-free and over time can help combat hyper-pigmentation and deliver brighter skin – it’s a great foundation with skincare benefits thrown in for good measure. Although it’s pricey and comes in a relatively small bottle, you need such a small amount it seemingly lasts forever.
