Must-have for Summer: Facial SPF

Summer has truly hit the UK. With temperatures reaching up to 30 degrees, protecting yourself from burning is more important than ever. As someone with super pale skin, I’ve tried every SPF under the sun (no pun intended), and know how frustrating trying to find a high factor that you can use on your face and still apply makeup over is. I’ve picked three of the best that will work their magic, without you even knowing they’re there.

La Roche Posay Dry Touch Gel Cream £16.50
This lightweight liquid from French skincare brand La Roche Posay has been specially designed for combination and oily skins. It has a very lightweight formula that’s non-greasy and sinks into skin almost immediately. Despite it having the highest protection level of the three, there’s no residue left on your face and I’ve even managed to apply mineral foundation over the top without any issue at all.

Supergoop City Sunscreen SPF30 Serum £35.00
Supergoop are a premium suncare brand from the US. Designed to be worn under makeup, the City Sunscreen Serum is ultra-light and is best suited to skin that is normal to dry. As well as a high sun protection level, it also offers a 24 hour moisturising complex, helping skin stay soft and supple.

Ultrasun Face SPF30 £20.00
Swiss company Ultrasun make a range of SPFs that are long-lasting and free from oil and perfume. Their Face SPF30 is non-greasy and one application is designed to last all day. The formula contains anti-ageing ingredients to help neutralise free radicals, which can damage the skin and are stimulated by the sun. As it’s free from oil, perfume and fillers, it’s great for sensitive skin as there’s a lower risk of allergy.

Even if you don’t burn easily, sun damage is one of the largest factors in ageing – so make sure you slap on that SPF to help skin look younger for longer!

Ultrasun is one of favourite sunscreens and I use it daily. I do like the sound of the LPR one though for the days I'm a bit more oily.
