If I say QVC you may envisage a multi-tasking mop, a selection of sparkling jewellery or even that orange guy from Bridget Jones’ Diary. Well times have moved on and this year QVC are celebrating their 20th year of business in the UK as one of the most popular destinations for beauty products and advice. With an offering of over 200 beauty brands and 100s of exclusive products and offers, QVC really is the one stop shop for the beauty addicts among us. If you tune in to Alison Young’s weekly beauty edit you’ll be treated to live demos, her invaluable advice and industry secrets that will have you looking fabulous in no time at all. Not only does QVC offer iconic brands such as Liz Earle, Bare Minerals, Elemis, Decleor and L’Occitane, but they have the exclusivity on some of the most up-and-coming brands that are sure to be future classics too.
I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon at QVC HQ and go behind the scenes to find out what really goes on to bring you the live shows. It’s fascinating to know that all the presenters are experts in their fields and that none of the shows are scripted – they have to think on their feet, really know their stuff and ensure they try all the products themselves to be able to pass on advice. There’s no diva antics either, as everyone you see on the show does their own hair and makeup and spends hours really getting to grips with the brands on offer. QVC are responsible for bringing many brands to the UK, including L’Occitane and Aveda, as well as actually helping with new product development thanks to the constant customer and viewer feedback. So many products, sizes, combinations and offers are only available through their channel or website, meaning it’s definitely top of my list for hunting out the beauty bargains!
With all the fabulous product combinations and discounts on offer, these are my top 5 picks:
1. Liz Earle: Cleanse & Polish Trio (£33.48)
You can never go wrong with a tube of Cleanse & Polish. I almost cry if I run out, so with this trio you’ll be sure to have a stash to keep you going for a while. Even better is the little bottle included, which is perfect for weekends away when you’re short on suitcase space.
2. Bare Minerals: Conceal & Brighten Collection (£23.50)
I’m a huge fan of the Bare Minerals concealers, so this is all you need to ensure you look wide awake and ready for the day ahead. The concealer will help to cover imperfections and under-eye bags, while the highlighter will brighten dullness and reflect the light.
3. L’Occitane: Seasonal Shower Duo (£19.80)
Shower gels don’t have to be boring, and with this fabulously scented pair you’ll be leaping out of the bathroom feeling revived. Their extravagant bottles look great in the bathroom, so they make the perfect gift (or indulgence for yourself!)
4. Panasonic: Wet & Dry Epilator (£54.96)
Believe the hype: epilating will change your life. This nifty device from Panasonic will have you hair free in hardly any time at all, even allowing you to epilate with dry legs if you’re in a hurry. If you’re new to this kind of hair removal, this is the perfect introduction.
5. Bobbi Brown: Instant Party Collection (£55.00)
This kit provides you with all the tools you need for a super sexy party look at a bargain price – it includes lipgloss, mascara, eye creams, concealer and blush to take you from day to night. This is not only a perfect intro to the brand, but a must for long-term fans too.
Those are my top five picks from QVC’s 20th birthday celebrations – now, would you like to WIN all of them to pamper yourself at home? All of the products, handpicked by me, are up for grabs to one lucky person. Just enter via the Rafflecopter widget below… Good luck!
