ARK Skincare: Plumping Lip Balm

Your lips are good for so many things that you better keep good care of them. Eating, talking, kissing, pouting – all things that wouldn’t be as good if your lips were ropey and dry. I have a huge thing for lip balms, never being without at least one (if not two or three) on my person, just in case I have a hydration emergency. Lipsticks just don’t sit well on cracked and thirsty pouts, while lipglosses can just temporarily cover the problem; it’s vital to look after your mouth, giving it all the hydration and goodness it needs. ARK Skincare, known for their age appropriate and targeted products, sent me one of their plumping lip balms to add to my collection and it’s certainly the most unique ‘balm’ I’ve ever tried. The product is housed in a glass pump bottle that’s more akin to a serum than a lip product, providing a hint of things to come. This is definitely more skincare than cosmetic, with the formula being a runny cream that’s applied using a finger and rubbed into the lip sparingly; the pump does annoyingly give you about twice as much product as you need, meaning you waste a blob every time you press the pump (no matter how lightly you attempt to do it!) The instant feeling on the lip is one of a very light moisturiser being applied, but the texture quickly turns to a thicker cream that absorbs well. Lips are instantly left feeling plump and refreshed, with the formula leaving a comfortable balm on the surface rather than being absorbed completely. It is a lovely product to use, albeit a bit confusing on the senses, but it’s not something I would carry in my bag for use on the go – in my opinion, it’s a bedside table or desk product that you grab as and when you need to apply. It’s not particularly convenient to use, as well as being heavy and large in size, so it’s definitely staying out of my clutch bag completely. Although I really like the result, the price point does put me off a little – it’s £26 for a 15ml bottle, which is certainly more expensive than a £3.99 pot of Carmex. If you really want to take care of your lips, or have problems with a thinning and ageing mouth, this could definitely be the answer to your lip balm dreams. But, it comes at a price.

Thanks for an honest review of this product. It looks good but its also good to find out that the pump action loses a bit of the cream every time its used. Hopefully Ark will improve that as time goes on if you give them that feedback. Thanks

Good to know about. I appreciate the time you took to take write about it. Maybe, if you keep using it, you could update us in the future with more photos, maybe a before and after of the effects it had on you? Dunno. Thanks!
