If you’ve spent the weekend, like me, watching Shrek on the telly then you may be in the mood for something a little fantastical. Something a little ‘far, far away’ and something with a sprinkle of magic and dragons – step up the new range from Rodial: Dragon’s Blood. Ok, it’s not exactly magical, but the new range from the controversial brand is aimed at us slightly younger ladies who are in need of a little boost. The products are a little cheaper, a little more colourful and a lot lighter to use, perfect for skin like mine that has troublesome areas without the need for hardcore age defying ingredients. Rodial Dragon’s Blood includes a moisturiser, toning water, eye gel and this face mask which I’ve been putting to the test.
The mask includes hyaluronic acid to plump fine lines, tighten wrinkles and provide comfort to dehydrated skin. It also reduces
redness, has anti-oxidant benefits and smoothes imperfections
for a smoother and firmer complexion – all in one little light gel formula that glides onto skin. I’m used to using clay formulas or thick, gloopy concoctions, so this light mask was somewhat of a surprise when it actually started to sink into my skin. You can either apply it for a quick ten minute boost or leave it on overnight for a more intense result; the consistency is light so it dries quickly without leave skin feeling tight, meaning it’s perfect to wear to bed without awaking the next morning feeling like your face has been zapped of moisture. What it does to skin is leave it feeling plumped, smooth, healthier and clearer without that awful tight feeling you often get with face masks. When left overnight your skin feels even better, knowing you’ve had a good eight hours to let the good stuff sink in. (You do still have to wash it off though!)
I’m not entirely sure what the ‘XXL’ means, nor am I entirely convinced there’s dragon’s blood included (dragons are real right?) but I do find myself enjoying using this mask. It gives me a moisture boost and ‘pick me up’ in a really easy way, although it doesn’t eliminate blemishes or prevent spots. I can use it comfortably overnight, or just quickly before going out, and know my skin will feel plumped and healthy. Rodial say this is perfect for long haul flights and I can totally imagine Elle McPherson using this on the way back to the US (I met her at the Rodial Beautiful Awards, so I know how much she loves the products) to keep her skin looking fresh and perfect. At £35 a pop it’s not the cheapest, but you need to use only a little to get a noticeable result. I can’t wait to try the rest of the range and see if I turn into a fairy. Or maybe a gingerbread man.
