Show stopping colour

I love dying my hair. I’ve been red for over a year now and I haven’t looked back since. Why would you want to blend into the background with mousey brown hair when you can have a striking, flame red barnet? The hunt for the best red has been a long one, but the latest colour collection from Schwarzkopf brings salon professional colour into your bathroom, making it a lot easier to create striking colour with your own hands. “NEW LIVE Salon Style is a brand new range of professional permanent hair colours that have been developed and tested for home use. Combining intense formulas and sophisticated shades, NEW LIVE Salon Style gives you the key to creative colour confidence at home.” The range includes shades of brown, blonde, red and black which go a little bit further than normal home hair colourants, delivering superior colour to really cover grey and give you a long-lasting look.

The shade I used was 5-29 Intense Red. Within the box you get the usual stuff, including the colour cream, developer, conditioner and gloves. You apply as normal, mixing the cream and developer together, bunging over your head and leaving for up to 30mins. Be warned – this red is RED. Like, ‘I’ve been massacred to death in the shower’ red. I got it literally all over the bathroom, and myself, so spent the majority of the 30mins cleaning up. When you wash it out the massacre continues, leaving you looking like a scene from Phsyco. That being said, the colour that remains is well worth the drama and the time spent clearing up.

The colour I was left with was the brightest red I’ve ever been. Striking, firey, no greys in sight and super shiny. I’ve had complements galore since dying it over a week ago, even more so from boys… for them to notice, it must be good. I always find that the colour can fade really quickly with reds, but so far, so good, as the colour is as striking today as when I dyed it ten days ago. For the first few days the colour does transfer onto towels, but apart from that I’ve had no problems at all. I would 100% use this dye again – because it’s so much better being a redhead.

PS – Congratulations to my mate Matt (above) who got married at the weekend. He likes my red hair too.

Eee, that is such a beautiful colour! Glad to hear it's working well for you, as I have a brown from the same range I'm flinging on this morning!

I use the exact same dye, unfortunately doesn't come out quite as red as I'd like on me. Yours looks fab though xx

Red is the best isn't it??? I have fade issues too (hate that) and i get mine touches up every 4 weeks but i think i'll have to start doing a rinse every 2 weeks just to keep that colour poppin the way it does after every visit

I'm definitely sticking with this for the time being – a great colour, shiny and doesn't seem to fade. Winner!
