Navigations Through Scent

“A brief history of perfume, told through five distinct fragrances. From lost worlds, along ancient silk and spice routes to a brave New World.” This is how Molton Brown describe their debut fragrance collection. As a brand known for their delicious scents and mood enhancing products, it’s a miracle that they haven’t progressed into the fragrance market until now. This September, however, sees the launch of their first five perfumes entitled ‘Navigations Through Scent’. The idea is simple – five fragrances that tell the history of scent whilst taking you on a trip around the world from Egypt to China and back to Nova Scotia. Molton Brown have developed five individual unisex fragrances which each have a story to tell and a truly individual scent.

The bottles, as you would expect are truly beautiful and luxurious. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a piece of glass that is so proudly placed upon my shelf – it looks like a piece of timeless art! The bottles wouldn’t seem out of place in Mad Men, channeling the classic shapes, colours and even scents of a time gone by. They come beautifully packaged too, so you feel like it’s Christmas come early.

Available in five different scents, each one is unique and takes you on a different journey…

Iunu: A long lost legend from Heliopolis, the lost City of the Sun. Sultry nights, steeped in jasmine. The hazy heat of a Delta dawn. Warm. Slightly dark. Sublime.

Lijiang: Set sail on a bamboo raft, along the banks of the River Li. Silk billowing in the breeze. A sip of steaming white tea. Crisp. Fresh. Almost edible.

Singosari: Follow the ancient spice trail to the islands of Indonesia. Blood-warm monsoon rains. Ruined temples and lush green jungles. Exotic. Steamy. Haunting.

Apuldre: Twilight on a summer’s day, in the garden of England. Picnic blankets on fresh cut grass. Fizz and gin. Irreverent. Cheeky. A bit mad.

Rogart: Beat a retreat to the Cobequid Mountains of Nova Scotia. Log cabins and campfires. Cosy nights under northern lights. Bracing. Rugged. Slightly smoky.

I’ve been lucky enough to have Iunu in my possession and I’ve worn it every single day for the past week. It’s officially my new favourite fragrance as it’s completely different from anything else I own. It’s very musty with a hint of ginger and smells amazing on my skin. The masculine edge to this means it’s a really mature and on-trend scent that I’ll be coveting until the last drop. These are all in store and online now, so make sure you can grab a sniff when you get a chance.

I'm really glad MB is doing more fragrances. I've got two other ones by them and I love them. I know what I shall be asking Santa for Christmas!
