This time of year (dare I mention the ‘V’ word) the world seems to go potty for perfume. There’s no better present if your beloved gets it right, but there’s also no worse a gift than if your loved one gets it wrong… fragrance is such a personal and subjective issue that it’s practically impossible to choose. That process may have gotten a little bit easier with the launch of Notable Scent, a website that not only sells all the best fragrances, but also helps you choose which ones would suit you best. I really struggle picking out fragrances for myself – I know what I like and I know what I don’t like, but put me in a beauty hall and my nose freaks out and turns everything into one big ball of smell. Notable Scent offers a completely free ‘prescription’ service where you answer a few simple questions about your likes, dislikes, lifestyle and current perfumes and they send you their personalised suggestions of the top three fragrances for you.
The questionnaire took about five minutes and within 24hrs you receive an email with your top fragrances, a description and the reasons why they would suit you. These are individually written and you can tell that a lot of thought and time is spent picking the right scents for you… these instantly sounded like I would love any one of them and couldn’t wait for a sniff. My three were YSL ‘Elle’, Vivienne Westwood ‘Let it Rock’ and Narsico Rodriguez ‘Essence’. It’s really interesting to see what things influence your choice of scent and how the right skills can really match you with some perfect undiscovered gems.
Notable Scent not only offers this fab complementary service, but also sell and deliver the fragrances themselves – often at big savings from the high street too. I was kindly sent the Vivienne Westwood fragrance (which I adore by the way and just proves how specific and spot on the service is!) and it arrived gift wrapped with care and attention. Not only is it packaged beautifully with tissue, ribbons, lining and bubble wrap, it also comes with a personalised card and information on how to wear your perfume and make the most out of it.
I think this is such a lovely service which takes the pain out of choosing a really personal gift for someone, or just for an indulgence for yourself this romantic period. If, like me, you really dread searching for a fragrance or can’t trust your beloved to get you something that doesn’t make you smell like your Nan, then this is really a savour for your nose and your soul.
