There are so many fragrances on the market today that our High Streets are filled to the brim with them. Since the ‘invention’ of the celebrity fragrance (c’mon, hands up, who came up with that idea?) perfume sales have gone from strength to strength and there seems to be about 40 new ones launching every month. I have to say I normally don’t like brands or slebs launching fragrances, but occasionally one pops up that is both credible and incredibly exciting. Stand up Tamara Mellon in her sky-high Jimmy Choos.
Jimmy’s first fragrance hits our shores around March (I’m told) and I’m sure it will be a sell-out success. There are two things ladies love and those two things happen to be pretty shoes and prettier smells, so I have no doubt they’ll be queueing round the block for this babe in a bottle. The packaging is what you would expect – classic, clean and a little bit sexy at the same time. I love that they’ve gone for a hint of pink and snakeskin as it’s still something I’d happily part cash for even though I normally hate both those things!
The promo image to go with the launch is very clever too… Tamara herself plays model (although you wouldn’t necessarily know) and almost makes me blush with the amount of boob she’s got on show. This is the equivalent of those posh ads you see in the likes of Elle, Vogue, Marie Claire that are flogging some handbag or other, so it’s got that premium exquisite thing going on. One of my good friends works for a High Street fragrance retailer and she’s had a sample of this for a few months – she really likes it and says it’s surprisingly nice, not too sweet or excessive. Knowing what her tastes are like (very similar to mine) I can’t wait to have a sniff myself.
