Tuscan Leather

The beautiful Tom Ford launched his Private Blend collection a while back and I’ve seen it many a time when I’ve floated through the beauty halls of London’s department stores. The minimal display of twelve individual scents on a massive display table just oozes exclusivity and opulence – these unisex fragrances are definitely ones for the Christmas lists. I’ve been sent Tuscan Leather to try and I’m in love. “A Chypre blend of notes brings a raw, yet reserved sensuality to this original take on a classic leather scent. Saffron, Raspberry and Thyme open to Olibanum and Night Blooming Jasmine. Leather, Black suede and Amberwood add an intricate richness.”

The scent really does smell of leather, there’s no other way to describe it. When you first spray it on you get the slightly floral hints of the supporting ingredients, but after a few minutes you’re left with a beautiful, fresh leather scent that makes me feel like I’m a proud owner of a brand new, very expensive leather bag. The bottles from the collection are based on the old apothecary shops from way-back-when, so they’re simple and stylish and suitable for a lady or gent. At £115 for a 50ml bottle this doesn’t come cheap, but if you’re into your fragrances then there’s nothing else like it. I’ve also had a whiff of a few of the other scents and they’re all stunning in their own way. Tom Ford can do no wrong.
