Hands up if you’re a makeup snob? Hands up if you look down your nose at someone using a lipgloss on the tube that costs less than your morning coffee? I have to admit I used to be one of those people, but since being a beauty blogger my eyes have been opened to a handful of brands that deliver on price, quality, colour and being on-trend. Boots 17 is one of those brands and has delivered a fabulous new collection for Christmas. (Yes I know we’ve not passed Halloween, but everything is in the shops by September anyway!)
Their new collection consists of sparkles… no surprise there then, but what is surprising is the colours and quality of the products. Within the range there are four eyeshadow trios, four glitter eyeliners and Wild Curls mascara in an Ultra Black version. I’ve already done a review of the mascara so you’ll know that I love it already, but this version has a ‘reversed’ pack which is predominately black. The glitter eyeliners come in four shades that aren’t too out there – silver, black, gold and purple – so you could wear these throughout the year (if you were that kind of girl.) The concentration of glitter is really high meaning that you get a fab sparkle on your eye really easily. The brush itself is thin so you can get a subtle line if you’re not that daring, but can equally build up the colour to get a thick, strong, glittery line. There’s no gritty feeling which you sometimes get with glitter liners, and they lasted all night on my eye without flaking… a definite winner for the party season.

The four eye quads come in very wearable combinations, including a more traditional grey smokey eye, a blue, green and ‘royal’ trio which contains gold, burgundy and green – a personal favourite because it’s different and makes me think of wearing eyeshadow colours in different ways. Again, the pay-off of the colours is in general really good. You can get a strong colour easily and the shadow builds up well on the skin. I adore the gold colours and the greens, but all the colours contain an element of shimmer which catches the light. Another one on the list for the festive season.
17 is definitely a brand to keep your eye on as they seem to understand that cheap doesn’t mean crap. They have good products that should be a lot more expensive than they are (ssssh don’t tell them!) but that’s why they’re sure to sell this collection by the bucketload. I literally can’t wait to see their Spring collection!
