I’ve been championing e.l.f makeup for a while now and that isn’t about to end any time soon. I’ve never found a brand that is so reasonably priced that actually still offers a decent product, that is packaged well and isn’t hidden away in my makeup bag in embarrassment. Their latest product launch is the Studio Cream Eyeliner range, which includes for fab shades to inject a bit of glam into Autumn: Plum Purple, Metallic Olive, Copper and Gunmetal.
These cute liners come in a little pot with a brush applicator, which is surprisingly good quality seeing as the liners only cost £3.50 each. The product itself takes a few swipes to get through the solid top layer and down to the good stuff, but once you’re there the formula is soft, creamy and easy to get on your brush. The product is easy to blend and manipulate, so a little goes a long way in creating a smokey look, but equally you can build up the result with a few layers. The brush is a bit too wide to use as a liner brush, so I used the colours as a creamy eyeshadow instead – but if you’ve got the right brushes you could definitely get a fab, strong result around your eye.
|L-R Plum Purple, Gunmental, Copper, Metallic Olive|
I used these at the weekend and was impressed by how easy it was to get a strong, smudgy look that was a bit different from my usual Saturday night makeup. The liner itself dries quickly and is basically budge-proof… it lasted all night (where usually I have to re-apply liner a few times to avoid ‘drunk eye’ as I like to call it, when it starts going a little bit south!) and even through to the next morning. It doesn’t come off by rubbing or using water, you need to use proper makeup remover – even a wipe didn’t get it all off. The colours are great because they’re dark enough to get a smokey eye, but have a little shimmer and slightly different hue to add a little something-something. Yet another great products from the geniuses at e.l.f.
