Bathtime with Lulu & Boo

That sounds like a children’s programme doesn’t it? Well it’s not… it’s actually a description of my evening with a couple of products from organic brand Lulu & Boo. I’ve been chatting away to them on twitter for a while now and they were kind enough to send a selection of bath treats for me to try. I do love a good soak in the bath (that’s the only reason I clean the bathroom, I swear) so any concoction, lotion or potion that comes my way will be in for a trial quicker than you can say ‘bubbles’.

Lulu & Boo make all their products by hand and most are certified by the Soil Association. Claire Edmunds founded the company after a period of ill health and turned to natural ingredients as a way of improving her beauty regime. Since the launch less than a year ago, her products have been nominated for numerous awards and have recently won a Beauty Bible award. The range consists of skincare, haircare, baby care and mum-to-be products so there’s something for everyone, but like I said – I’m all over these bath products.

I tried the Jasmine & Vanilla bath oil which has a really lovely and unique smell, without being too overpowering or old-lady-like. The bottle itself is a really generous 100ml which will keep you going for a while, although you do need a fair amount as the oil isn’t that strong once you put it in the water. The other bath oils I’ve used needed only a few drops to get a really strong scent, but I used a big portion of the bottle (about 10-5%) and the scent wasn’t strong at all. However, it did leave my skin feeling moisturised afterwards and didn’t leave any sticky, greasy residue on my skin.

My favourite product though has to be their Vanilla Sugar Body Scrub. I love everything about it – the heavy and huge pot it comes in, the delicious and rich texture of the scrub, the beautiful vanilla scent, the proportion of oil that it comes with to make it moisturising and even the way you can swirl it around in the tub. I used this in circular movements all over my limbs (one by one obviously, I’m not an X-Men character!) and it softly exfoliated my skin while the sugar gradually dissolved. It left the remaining oil behind which I rubbed into my skin for extra moisture, but it does leave a slight residue behind – for this reason I’d recommend it for a pre-bed treat, rather than for in the shower. I normally moisturise myself to death before I turn in for the night, but with this I really didn’t feel I needed to.

Both the products are made from fab ingredients and natural oils, meaning the formulas are 98% organic. They’re perfect for anyone who likes a treat or has a fancy for natural alternatives, and they’d make fantastic presents. All the products are available online:
