Mention the word ‘Lipliner’ to most people and they’ll immediately think of some Shazza off the estate, sporting a can of special brew, a Croydon facelift and the most ghastly application of dark lipliner known to man. Well ladies, you need not be scared of it if you know how to use it correctly. In fact, in the right hands, lip liner can make all the difference. For example, if you have thin lips but dont want to look too made up for the office with lashings of lip colour or gloss, simply buying the shade that matches your natural lip colour is the first step in the right direction.
A lovely shade I have found in a neutral hue is called Pink Treat from MAC.No need to sharpen the end, it comes in a handy pen that you screw up from the base – which means less mess in the long run. It’s a little on the expensive side at £10.50 a pop, but it blends well, lasts and feels softer than your average lipliner.
With this particular shade, I can make my lips look fuller in an instant – all while passing it off like it’s ‘au naturel’. All you need to do is make sure you have nice smooth moisturized lips before you start. Carefully line the outside of your mouth just outside the lip line and then smudge it so it blends into the natural contour of your lips. Fix it in place with a lipstick fixer and you’re ready to go. If you want a bit of colour, I’d recommend then using a tinted lip balm colour over the top to keep your lips looking plump all day. Voila! Angelina Jolie eat your heart out!
