Salt Head

Bed head is no longer a term used to describe rubbish, hungover hair. It’s a true style in its own right and has spawned an influx of products aimed at helping you re-create this look without the need for jumping back into bed. My hair is naturally wavy/curly/frizzy so this isn’t a style I’ve attempted to create – in fact I’ve avoided it like the plague and left it to the lucky ones with straight, natural tresses. However, with all the salt sprays on the shelves of Boots I felt it my duty to try it out and see how ridiculous I could look.

The product of choice was Umberto Gianni Grunge Glamour Tousled Salt Spray – a bit of a mouthful. This promises to give you a lived-in texture and ‘come to bed look’, roughly translated as sex bomb locks. All you have to do is spray liberally through damp hair and leave to dry.

I first tried this on dry, styled hair just to see what happened. I sprayed it all over, jushed it up a bit and left to dry off. It definitely gave me added volume, texture and a messed up look. It was very light though so it didn’t feel product heavy on my hair, nor did it stick bits of my barnet together and look greasy. Definitely impressive, this left me wanting more…

I washed and left my hair, spraying some of the Salt Spray throughout. My curls/waves/frizz were controlled and my hair was able to be left as is for the first time since I was about twelve. Even the bits around my face were tousled and sexy looking, so I barely had to lift a finger. I did just finish it off with a little twidle from my hair straightener in the areas that weren’t quite as ‘textured’, but apart from that I did nada. Two days in a row I got complements on my hair – a winner.

This is under a fiver so will be coming with me to everywhere from beaches to festivals this summer. I just hope I don’t get too many men drooling ; )

I've just used it for 4 days at a festival and I love it… the smell is lush and it saved my hair without messing it up too much! Can't wait to read your review x
